"Footage filmed on Wednesday shows an alleged Israeli strike on 'Al-Sitt Amira' refugee camp, south of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza. According to Palestinian media, one person was killed and seven others were injured in the attack. The video shows residents gathering around damaged tents, with debris scattered across the site. A vehicle belonging to the Civil Defence can also be seen. Local media reported that the strike hit an empty plot of land adjacent to the camp, following a prior evacuation warning issued by phone. The Israeli military had not commented on the strike or the reported warning at the time of publication. The war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, after Hamas carried out a surprise attack on Israel, killing around 1,139 people and taking more than 200 hostages. Israel subsequently launched a large-scale military campaign in Gaza, which, according to Palestinian figures, has left more than 72,000 dead and over 171,000 injured. Earlier this year, US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff announced the second phase of Donald Trump’s proposed plan to end the conflict, including a transition from ceasefire to disarmament, the formation of a technocratic administration and the start of reconstruction."
