A teenage girl was injured when another teenage girl attacked her with knife at a park in Kouvola, a municipality in southeastern Finland on Tuesday evening, police said on Wednesday. The incident of stabbing took place at about 6:40 p.m. at the park named Salpapuisto in the city center area over an issue related to a joint interest of both the girls. At certain stage the 13-year-old-girl attacked the 14-year-old girl with a sharp knife and left the scene immediately. The victim sustained serious wounds and was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Police conducted search after the incident and arrested the suspect from the nearby area but later released her as both the victim and suspect were minor. They, however, did not divulge details about the incident and the identities of the victim and the suspect but said that they were known to each other. Police interviewed the eyewitnesses, who were also minors to get more information about the incident and contacted the parents of the suspect, victim and witnesses. Police are investigating into the incident as attempted murder. Earlier on Monday, a teenage student was injured when another teenage student attacked the victim with knife at Maatulli Comprehensive School at Tapulikaupunki area in Helsinki.
