Samsung Display develops QuantumBlack film for QLED monitors

Samsung Display has developed QuantumBlack display film for QLED monitors, which reduces light reflection while enhancing durability, the company said Thursday. The company said it has recently completed trademark registration of QuantumBlack as a new film technology brand and will apply it to all new QLED monitor products scheduled for launch this year. QuantumBlack is a low-reflection film that reduces light reflection by 20 percent compared to the company’s existing film. It also improves panel hardness from 2H to 3H. Hardness, measured in H, indicates resistance to surface scratches, with higher numbers representing greater durability. QLED displays are self-emissive and can achieve true black by turning off individual pixels. In real-world environments, however, ambient light can be reflected on the screen, making it difficult for users to see clearly.
