It has been nearly two weeks since Korea lost in the quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in Miami, but the elimination still gnaws at slugging outfielder Ahn Hyun-min. Ahn, the 2025 Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) Rookie of the Year for the KT Wiz, is determined to use that exit, following a 10-0 loss to the Dominican Republic, as fuel for his sophomore campaign. "We didn't go to the tournament trying to learn things. We all went there trying to win, and we didn't get it done," Ahn said in a media scrum at Lotte Hotel World in Seoul, following the annual KBO season-opening media day. "Obviously, the players all learned some things as individuals, myself included. But I wouldn't necessarily call them lessons. I am just disappointed that we didn't win at the end. I want to make sure I won't have the same disappointment at the end of this season." Last year, Ahn finished in the top 10 in home runs, batting average, walks, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, despite playing in only 112 out of the possible 144 games.
