"Donald Trump mocked a reporter who asked if he was going 'in to get the uranium' in Iran, as he held a cabinet meeting in DC on Thursday. "What kind of a question? Am I going to go in for the — oh, yeah, I'm going in. We're going in tomorrow at 3 o'clock. How could you possibly ask a question like that and expect an answer?" he said. This week Trump said he had had 'very good discussions' with a 'top person' in Iran - reported in the media to be Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammed Qalibaf although Qalibaf himself denied it. Iran's Foreign Ministry also denied talks had taken place, saying that 'exchanging messages' did not amount to negotiations. US media reports suggested the Americans had passed a '15-point plan' for peace, although the content was not confirmed by the White House. Pakistan suggested it was assisting in mediation.According to media outlets citing Pakistani sources, the US plan covered limits on Iran’s nuclear programme, IAEA monitoring, limits on missiles and access through the Strait of Hormuz, among others. Iranian state TV suggested Tehran had rejected it, and released five 'conditions' citing Iranian officials - including a complete halt to 'aggression and assassinations', 'concrete mechanisms' to stop attacks happening again, war reparations, the end of conflict on all fronts - apparently referring to Lebanon - and recognition of Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz.
