MEXICO, Pampanga — Pampanga, through Central Country Estate Inc. (CCEI) here, will vie for the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the “largest display of water lanterns” in the world during the Lumina Water Lantern and Music Festival on May 10, organizers announced on Thursday. “It’s a modern tribute to tradition,” said Maricar Pangilinan, CCEI communications head, referring to the homegrown practice of making handcrafted lanterns for homes and giant lanterns for a festival that will mark its 118th year in December.
