Farmland fallout - Intercepted Iranian missile debris hits southern Syria as Middle East observes 100 days of war

"Remnants of a suspected Iranian missile have been discovered in farmland in the Quneitra countryside of southern Syria, following a successful interception by Israeli air defence systems. Footage captured on Monday shows the missile's main fuselage protruding directly from fields near Zubayda village. Other debris from the missile can also be seen. Syrian state media attributed the wreckage to Iranian forces, confirming the projectile fell after being intercepted. The Israeli military later confirmed this, stating that "missiles were detected being launched from Iran toward Israeli territory" and confirming that its multi-layered air defence network successfully intercepted multiple threats during successive waves of Iranian strikes. The border region, encompassing the countryside of Quneitra, Daraa, and Suwayda, frequently witnesses falling debris as Israeli jets and batteries engage incoming projectiles transiting Syrian airspace. Local authorities have repeatedly warned residents of the ongoing danger posed by unexploded ordnance and supersonic shrapnel raining down on agricultural land. The dangerous resurgence in cross-border fire comes 100 days into the wider conflict, which initially erupted on 28 February following a joint United States and Israeli military operation against Iran.
