"Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Spokesperson Ibrahim Zolfaghari said on Monday that Iran has launched a fresh barrage of ballistic missiles "against important and sensitive targets" in Israel. "As promised, we have acted," stated IRGC Spokesperson Ibrahim Zolfaghari from an unknown location. "The powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Army, have proven that, at the peak of their defensive and offensive readiness, they act on their word with speed and high precision, and will make the American and Zionist enemies regret their actions." While the Israeli military confirmed it successfully detected and intercepted the incoming projectiles, the IRGC claimed, "In the new wave of actions against important and sensitive targets in the occupied territories, the enemy experienced targeted, intelligent and damaging heavy blows from successful offensive operations, by the powerful forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran." Following the missile strikes, the IRGC announced a sudden suspension of its active military operations, though it accompanied the pause with a severe warning to both Jerusalem and Washington. The military command emphasised that "should these attacks and atrocities continue, including in southern Lebanon, even harsher and more crushing measures will be taken." The sudden escalation has drawn a sharp response from Washington, where the White House is attempting to salvage the ongoing diplomatic track. US President Donald Trump commented on the situation via social media, stating that "Final negotiations on 'Peace' are proceeding, subject to ignorance or stupidity getting in its way," whilst noting that the strict economic blockade on Iran would remain firmly in place until a ‘Final Deal’ is reached. This latest flare-up marks the 100th day in a conflict that began on 28 February following a joint US-Israeli military operation against Iran. Though a UN-backed ceasefire in April managed to temporarily halt the subsequent spiral of retaliatory missile strikes, Monday’s breach threatens to push the region back into full-scale warfare."
