Israel keeps blocking Gaza aid despite ceasefire deal

Israel has continued to block essential humanitarian aid to Gaza, despite the formal ceasefire agreed under the US-led peace plan, drawing sharp criticism from the United Nations and aid agencies on the ground. The Rafah crossing with Egypt remains closed, and aid convoys allowed into Gaza fall far below the levels agreed in the ceasefire deal. Only a fraction of the required 600 daily aid trucks have been permitted entry, according to the UN. Mahmoud Basal , spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defence, said in a statement that the situation remains dire.
