Another year, another Pokémon Presents. Today, the Pokémon Company hosted a stream to spotlight numerous updates arriving for its many live services and titles surrounding the long-running Pokémon franchise. It is the series' 30th anniversary, marking three decades since the first generation of games took us to Kanto, and the makers of Pokémon are leaning heavily into our shared nostalgia for it. Here's everything we saw at today's February 2026 Pokémon Presents presentation. Game Music Collection The stream kicked off with a Game Music Collection jukebox for Pokémon Red and Blue , with 45 songs on 45 cartridges for the standalone music player. It basically looks like a HitClips for classic Pokémon music. Remember HitClips? Anyways, that's available starting on February 27 (today). Pokémon World Championships and XP 2026 The Pokémon XP and World Championships are headed to San Francisco on August 28 through 30, and today The Pokémon Company confirmed all the activities happening there. It's not just competition and fighting for the crown; the Pokémon XP expo will host several different events and places for families and friends to hang out and celebrate Pokémon. Plus, we got some new artwork today, commemorating the event. Pokémon Trading Card Game We got a look at the "future" of Pokémon Trading Card Game with a set celebrating the series' 30th anniversary releasing sometime in 2026. The stream showed off everything from classic cards to Tag Teams and more, so look forward to that if you're a fan of cracking Pokémon packs. Pokémon Go Numerous Pokémon that have appeared in past Pokémon Go events will return, as part of the game's 10th anniversary alongside the series' 30th. (Can you believe it's been a decade since that blissful, wonderful Pokémon Go summer?) The anniversary event runs in early March, and Pokémon Go Tour: Kalos starts tomorrow on Saturday, February 28. Make sure to grab the promotion with promo code GOTOURKALOS, valid until Monday, March 2. Pokémon Masters EX Red (1996) & Pikachu are out today, with two more Trainers joining soon too: Florian & Ogerpon (Anniversary 2026) on February 28, and Juliana & Terapagos (Anniversary 2026) on March 2. It's the 6.5 Year Celebration for Pokémon Masters EX (it's a real anniversary, I swear), and you can also pick up 3,000 gems for logging in sometime between now and March 31. Pokémon Cafe Remix A roundup event featuring all partner Pokémon starts today, with the first set being the original three from Kanto - Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Pokémon Sleep Mew Missions are coming to Pokémon Sleep, starting tonight. Look forward to trying to grab a Mew while you snooze! Pokémon Unite Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres are coming to Pokémon Unite today, with a special event featuring the birds kicking off as well. Meganium, Typholosion, and Feraligatr are also on their way to the PokéMOBA, and an Electrode volleyball world tour was teased for the game as well. Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket The next set coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket is Paldean Wonders, premiering now with numerous daily log-in bonuses starting today. You can pick up a bunch of booster packs to celebrate the 30th anniversary, as well as some special playmats and coins for in-game card dueling too. Nintendo Switch Online Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness, a lesser-known spin-off, is finally coming to Nintendo Switch Online's GameCube selection in March 2026. Honestly, this is huge news for anyone who's wanted to see what this odd side game is about, but doesn't want to pay exorbitant sums for a physical GameCube copy. Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen As previously confirmed , the Game Boy Advance remakes of Pokémon Gen 1 are coming to Nintendo Switch. They're out today, and feature Pokémon Home integration as part of their modern Switch release. Pokémon Champions Arrives In April The battle-focused Pokémon experience comes to Switch in April, with a mobile version expected to arrive later this year. This is a client focused solely on facing off against other trainers, as shown by the trailer today, but might be a pretty cool thing for the competitive Pokémon players out there. Pokémon Legends Z-A Gets More Mega The latest Pokémon Legends entry arrived last year with Z-A, and it's getting a fresh crop of content in 2026. Mega Garchomp Z will be available for owners of the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokémon Legends Z-A today. Interesting that it's tied to owning both the game and DLC, but the new Garchomp does look pretty cool. Pokémon Pokopia Pokopia is just days away now, but there's still some news to show off before the cozy Poké-life sim goes live. DJ Rotom is a special stereo-focused form of the techno-Pokémon, able to play CDs that the player-Ditto finds. We also got a look at a culinary master Greedent named Chef Dente, who might be my new favorite Pokémon ever. The stream also showed off the four-player multiplayer town visits and other facets of Pokémon Pokopia. The new building-and-living sim arrives on March 5 for Switch 2, and honestly looks delightful. Pokémon Winds and Waves The 10th generation of Pokémon has been confirmed as Pokémon Winds and Waves, in a yet-unnamed but seemingly tropical region. We got glimpses of many different biomes and the Pokémon that will inhabit them, as well as a resort-like structure and towns built on the water. Plus, our three new apparent starters: the little bird Browt, the fire puppy Pombon, and water amphibian Gecqua. Also, possibly a tease for diving and underwater activities? This generation of Pokémon will aim for a global release in 2027 on the Switch 2, and we'll likely learn more about it later. How did you feel about this year's Pokémon Day Pokémon Presents livestreams? Did you have a favorite announcement? Which starter are you choosing in Winds and Waves?
For this week's giveaway, we've teamed up with Astropad to offer MacRumors readers a chance to win an iPhone 17 and an anti-reflective Fresh Coat screen protector from Astropad to go along with it. Fresh Coat is a screen protector that Astropad created with an optical-grade anti-reflective coating to reduce glare and provide a better iPhone viewing experience. The technology cuts reflections by 75 percent, while improving contrast and keeping colors vibrant. Unlike other anti-reflective screen protectors on the market, Fresh Coat adds no haze or distortion to the iPhone's display. Priced at $30 , Fresh Coat is made from a scratch-proof tempered glass that provides protection for the iPhone's display in addition to cutting down on glare and reflections. It's slim and doesn't add bulk to the iPhone even though there are five layers of protective technology at work. From the top down, there's an anti-reflective coating, an oleophobic and hydrophobic coating, a layer of tempered glass, a dust barrier, and an impact-resistant "airbag" bonding. If you have an iPhone 17, it comes with an anti-reflective coating added by Apple. What you might not know is that you can't use just any screen protector with the iPhone 17. If you put a regular screen protector without an anti-reflective coating on, it nullifies the anti-reflective properties of that added coating. Since Fresh Coat has its own anti-reflective coating, it improves on Apple's included anti-reflective layer, reducing glare even further. With Fresh Coat, the iPhone's screen is easy to see in any lighting conditions, there's less eye strain, and if you use Dark Mode , it looks even darker. If you don't have an iPhone 17, Fresh Coat can provide an iPhone 17-style display upgrade, mirroring Apple's own reflection-reducing display coating. Fresh Coat is available for all iPhone 17 models, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, and the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Astropad designed an installation process that's impossible to mess up, so you get perfect alignment on your iPhone without the hassle that comes with most screen protectors. We have an iPhone 17 in white and a Fresh Coat screen protector for one lucky MacRumors reader. To enter to win, use the widget below and enter an email address. Despite an ultimatum from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Anthropic said that it can't "in good conscience" comply with a Pentagon edict to remove guardrails on its AI, CEO Dario Amodei wrote in a blog post . The Department of Defense had threatened to cancel a $200 million contract and label Anthropic a "supply chain risk" if it didn't agree to remove safeguards over mass surveillance and autonomous weapons. "Our strong preference is to continue to serve the Department and our warfighters — with our two requested safeguards in place," Amodei said. "We remain ready to continue our work to support the national security of the United States." In response, US Under Secretary of Defense Emil Michael accused Amodei in a post on X of wanting "nothing more than to try to personally control the US military and is OK putting our nation's safety at risk." The standoff began when the Pentagon demanded that Anthropic its Claude AI product available for "all lawful purposes" — including mass surveillance and the development of fully autonomous weapons that can kill without human supervision. Anthropic refused to offer its tech for those things, even with a "safety stack" built into that model. Yesterday, Axios reported that Hegseth gave Anthropic a deadline of 5:01 PM on Friday to agree to the Pentagon's terms. At the same time, the DoD requested an assessment of its reliance on Claude, an initial step toward potentially labelling Anthropic as a "supply chain risk" — a designation usually reserved for firms from adversaries like China and "never before applied to an American company," Anthropic wrote. Amodei declined to change his stance and stated that if the Pentagon chose to offboard Anthropic, "we will work to enable a smooth transition to another provider, avoiding any disruption to ongoing military planning, operations or other critical missions." Grok is one of the other providers the DoD is reportedly considering, along with Google's Gemini and OpenAI. It may not be that simple for the military to disentangle itself from Claude, however. Up until now, Anthropic's model has been the only one allowed for the military's most sensitive tasks in intelligence, weapons development and battlefield operations. Claude was reportedly used in the Venezuelan raid in which the US military exfiltrated the country's president, Nicolás Maduro, and his wife. AI companies have been widely criticized for potential harm to users, but mass surveillance and weapons development would clearly take that to a new level. Anthropic's potential reply to the Pentagon was seen as a test of its claim to be the most safety-forward AI company, particularly after dropping its flagship safety pledge a few days ago. Now that Amodei has responded, the focus will shift to the Pentagon to see if it follows through on its threats, which could seriously harm Anthropic.
