
DOT: Resumption of Chinese e-visa is 'necessary, overdue'
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Tourism (DOT) on Friday said the resumption of the electronic visa scheme for Chinese tourists is “necessary and overdue,” as it aims to restore the Philippines’ competitiveness in one of its top tourism markets. In a statement, Tourism Secretary Cristina Frasco praised the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Embassy in Beijing for reinstating the eVisa system for Chinese visitors after nearly two years of suspension, citing the “persistent demand” from the Chinese tourism market.
