Aljur Abrenica not ready to discuss reported children with AJ Raval

Aljur Abrenica admitted that he is not ready to address the reports of him having two children with his girlfriend AJ Raval, saying he is “not yet comfortable” discussing it publicly.  Last August, AJ’s father, veteran action star Jeric Raval, unintentionally revealed that he is a grandfather to the couple’s kids, a boy and a girl, during a media event for the film “Mamay: A Journey to Greatness.” This led to Jeric apologizing for his slip of the tongue weeks later in a “Fast Talk” interview. Mayors' group launches anti-corruption hotline

Mayors' group launches anti-corruption hotline

MANILA, Philippines – The Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) launched a nationwide citizen-reporting initiative called Report Infra, offering a hotline and online portal for Filipinos to report corruption in government infrastructure projects. Concerned citizens may report ghost projects, substandard works, or overpriced contracts starting Thursday, October 16. Reports may be submitted by phone through (02) 8459-0143 from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or online via bit.ly/reportinfraph and mayorsforgoodgovernance.ph/reportinfraph. M4GG said the program provided a safe channel for citizens, government workers, contractors, and local stakeholders to share verified information or evidence of anomalous practices. Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, one of the convenors, said the initiative aimed to empower Filipinos to take part in the fight against corruption. “We need whistleblowers who will expose the graft and corrupt practices that are being done in their areas,” Sotto said. “If we want genuine and lasting change to happen in our country, we all have to do our own share to hold these corrupt officials accountable.” Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong, also an M4GG convenor, said corruption remained a major challenge that required citizen participation. “The corruption happening in our government is a huge problem, so we need our fellow citizens to help in finding information and evidence about the irregularities committed in their localities,” Magalong said. Each report will be reviewed by a dedicated technical and legal team in coordination with M4GG and later forwarded to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) for investigation.

Emma Tiglao’s prelims gown draws cheers, jeers; designer is ‘unbothered’

Pageant strategy, or just a really plain prelims gown? Emma Tiglao‘s deep red Ryan Uson number at the Miss Grand International (MGI) preliminary competition is gaining undue attention with pageant observers critiquing its silhouette and overall design. The gown featured wing-like shoulder pads adorned with red and orange beads, a low V neckline with gold trim, and a figure-hugging skirt with a high slit, and a flowy sheer overlay. There appeared to be no sign that Tiglao was uncomfortable wearing Uson’s design when she sashayed onto the MGI stage on Wednesday, Oct. 15, as she competed with 75 other candidates. […]... Bayan: Discayas' pull-out proves that ICI lacks teeth in flood probe

MANILA, Philippines  — The Discaya couple’s recent refusal to cooperate with the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) is concerning, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) Chair Teddy Casiño expressed on Thursday. Casiño told the media that this development is proof that the ICI is “toothless” and has no power to get individuals to testify about the alleged flood-control anomalies. “The Discayas exposed the toothlessness of the ICI. It turns out that it really has no power or authority to compel those involved in corruption to testify and tell the truth,” Casiño said in Filipino.
