LPA likely to enter PAR, develop into cyclone in 24 hours

LPA likely to enter PAR, develop into cyclone in 24 hours

MANILA, Philippines – The state-run weather agency said on Wednesday that the low pressure area (LPA) has now a big chance to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility and develop into a tropical depression within 24 hours. Once inside, it would have its domestic name ‘Ramil,’ the 18th cyclone to be hitting the country in 2025, said weather specialist Chenel Dominguez of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). It may pass close to Northern Luzon, and bring heavy rains in the area especially over the weekend, the Pagasa forecaster said. In the meantime, the national weather bureau said in its 5a.m. advisory that the easterly winds, which carry humid and warm weather, have been affecting Metro Manila, CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Isabela, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Capiz, Aklan, Cebu, and Bohol. The other weather system – northeasterly wind flow – would prevail over Batanes, Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains would be likely. The rest of Luzon and the rest of Visayas would be experiencing partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the easterlies, the state weather agency said. Over Mindanao, Pagasa said cloudy skies with isolated downpours or thunderstorms would prevail within a 24-hour period caused by the localized thunderstorms.
