Best way to address AI fears is to try, experiment — tech leaders

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The myriad fears surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) — from ethical issues to concerns about AI replacing people’s jobs — can best be addressed by trying it out and experimenting with it, instead of keeping these as mere theories. G42 chief executive officer Peng Xiao and OpenAI founder Sam Altman were asked on Tuesday, during the second day of GITEX Global 2025 here in Dubai, how the tech community can address the lingering “paranoia” over AI and its rapid development. Romualdez a state witness? That depends on his testimony, Palace says

MANILA, Philippines — Making former Speaker Martin Romualdez as state witness in the investigation of anomalous flood control projects would depend on his testimony before the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), Malacañang said on Tuesday. “It depends on his narrative and what he can present (to the ICI),” Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said in Filipino in a press briefing. “It would also depend on the Department of Justice if he would be considered a state witness and this will be recommended to the court. We cannot yet say whether he can be a state witness or not,” she added. Romualdez faced the ICI on Tuesday to address allegations that he was one of the major players in the alleged massive corruption tied to anomalous flood control projects. He has denied all accusations hurled against him. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier said that no one will be spared in the ICI’s investigation, even if it would hit his political allies including Romualdez who is his cousin.
