New Fantasy Shooter Highguard Announced From Former Titanfall Devs, Launching In Weeks

Near the end of tonight’s Game Awards presentation, we got a look at a brand new shooter game from Wildlight Entertainment, a team that includes 61 members of the team that built Apex Legends and Titanfall. After departing Respawn, the team began work on a new shooter called Highguard. The fast-paced gameplay seems to mix mount riding, gun-shooting, power usage, and area capture into an intoxicating mix. The debut trailer isn’t what many have come to expect from game reveals, as it was mostly focused on showing off gameplay. That’s likely because the game is surprisingly close to launch, and is set to release in January. It’s unclear at this juncture precisely how the game mixes storytelling and worldbuilding with multiplayer elements, but much of the gameplay does appear to be competitive in nature. Highguard is set to launch as a free-to-play title on January 26, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam.

Amazon's AI-generated recap tool didn't watch Fallout very closely

Amazon's AI-generated recap tool didn't watch Fallout very closely

Amazon's plan to offer AI-generated recaps of Prime Video shows isn't off to a great start. The company's recap of the first season of Fallout features multiple errors, GamesRadar+ writes , including basic facts about the plot of the show. You can watch the recap yourself in the "Extras" section of Amazon's Fallout season two listing in Prime Video. Besides being somewhat dry, the AI-generated recap incorrectly identifies the time period of the show's Los Angeles-set flashbacks as being the 1950s, when they're actually 2077 (the Fallout franchise is set in an alternate history that diverged from our real one after 1945). As Gizmodo notes , the recap also seems to misunderstand the ending of the first season, which sets up season two's partnership between vault dweller Lucy and The Ghoul, an irradiated wastelander with a personal connection to the mystery at the heart of the first season. While the recap suggests Amazon's AI system can successfully combine clips, music and dialogue into a coherent video, it apparently lacks an understanding of the details. The inaccuracies in this recap won't prevent anyone from enjoying the second season of the show, but they don't exactly inspire confidence in Amazon's tool either. It also seems like a problem that could have been easily solved by having a human employee who's watched the show review the video before it was uploaded. Unfortunately, Amazon's lack of AI quality control extends beyond recaps of its shows and into the dubs for the shows themselves. The company pulled AI-generated voiceover tracks for Banana Fish and other anime because of how bad they sounded earlier this week. It wouldn't be surprising if this recap gets pulled, corrected and re-uploaded, too. As Amazon adds more AI-generated content to its platform, users are bound to discover more ways it comes up short. The company's audience is too big, and AI is apparently still too unreliable for it to be avoided. David Harbour Announces Total War: Warhammer 40,000 At The Game Awards

David Harbour Announces Total War: Warhammer 40,000 At The Game Awards

Total War, the real-time strategy series, first fully crossed over with Warhammer in 2016, but after three entries in the classic Warhammer continuity, the series is venturing into the distant future with Total War: Warhammer 40,000. The game was revealed at the Game Awards by none other than Stranger Things star David Harbour, who also said he'll appear in the game. You can see the announcement trailer here and see some images from it below. "Experience the brutal fusion of galactic strategy and grimdark warfare in Total War: Warhammer 40,000," the trailer's description reads on YouTube. "Take command of iconic factions, customise your war machine, and engage in devastating battles as you carve a bloody warpath across the stars." The trailer ends with a glimpse of gameplay, though we see plenty of iconic factions and images from the Warhammer 40k franchise, though it is, perhaps unsurprisingly, space marine-centric. A press release confirmed four playable factions, however: Space Marines, Astra Militarum, Orks, and Aeldari. That same press release also promises that players will be able to create their own armies as well. "For the first time in Total War, forge an army that’s truly your own," it reads. "Shape every detail from the faction’s title, heraldry, iconography and arcane wargear. Define their traits, sharpen their tactics, and unleash a signature style of destruction that leaves your mark upon the galaxy." Total War: Warhammer 40,000 will launch not just on PC, like the series normally does, but also on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Star Wars: Galactic Racer Is Coming Next Year

Star Wars: Galactic Racer Is Coming Next Year

It's not officially a Star Wars: Episode I – Racer sequel (which featured podracing exclusively), but the newly announced Star Wars Galactic Racer might as well be. The game is developed by Fuse Games, whose members have history working on games like Need for Speed and Burnout, and the trailer showed different types of new and familiar Star Wars vehicles (like speeder bikes and more) racing against backdrops like AT-AT graveyards while a narrator yells, "The galaxy needs racing!" The trailer also takes a moment to highlight an appearance from Sebulba (or maybe just an alien that is the same species as Sebulba). The game is coming some time next year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Mega Man: Dual Override Brings The Blue Bomber Back In 2027

Mega Man: Dual Override Brings The Blue Bomber Back In 2027

Capcom is bringing the Blue Bomber back. Mega Man is back in action with Mega Man: Dual Override, set to arrive sometime in 2027. Shown at tonight's Game Awards 2025, we got a very brief glimpse of gameplay for Mega Man's new adventure. With an orchestral tease of Dr. Wily's Theme, the new Mega Man takes a classic approach to the Blue Bomber, with a more stylized look. What "Dual Override" means is yet to be seen, but the actual gameplay looks like classic Mega Man. Run across the field, shoot and slide, and deal with the many colorful and dangerous robots in your way. We'll doubtless learn more between now and 2027, but seeing a gameplay slice right now certainly feels like a sign of confidence from the crew at Capcom. Mega Man: Dual Override is aiming for 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Switch 1, and PC.

Appeals court amends order to let Apple resume third-party commissions

Appeals court amends order to let Apple resume third-party commissions

A federal appeals court has reopened the door for Apple to collect commissions on outside payments again, but the company won't see any money until Epic signs off on it. Epic Games viral '1984' ad campaign against Apple In April , Judge Gonzalez Rogers found Apple in violation of a 2021 injunction that required the company to remove anti-steering barriers for third-party payments. As a result, the company was no longer allowed to charge any commission, not just its previous 27% . On Thursday, a court upheld the spirit of the law, saying that Apple had, in fact, violated the anti-steering injunction with its steep commission fees. But it also partially sided with Apple, claiming that the ban on all commissions went too far. Continue Reading on AppleInsider | Discuss on our Forums
