"Tehran imam, Mohammad Javad Haj Ali Akbari, condemned the West during his sermon in the Iranian capital on Friday, criticising their decision to trigger the 'snapback mechanism' and warning of 'serious consequences' for both international security and the country’s relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). "This decision, of course, has consequences. It will affect the process of Iran's interactions with the agency [the IAEA], and it will affect international security. This is a major disgrace for the West and Europe," Akbari said. He insisted that Iran had fulfilled its nuclear obligations under the 2015 agreement. "Iran was adhering to its agreement; everyone knows this now. We acted on all the commitments we had." Locals also voiced anger at European governments. "It is perfectly clear that these three countries [UK, France, and Germany] follow the US and do not have an independent stance in their talks with Iran," one said.
