Bumper-to-bumper Beijing - Heavy traffic in China's capital as country gears up for Victory Day festivities

"As the Victory Day celebrations approach, Beijing enforced traffic control among other final preparations for a large-scale commemorative event in Tiananmen Square. Footage filmed on Saturday shows numerous vehicles stuck in the traffic jam at the city centre due to restricted traffic in the area. Traffic controllers were deployed to regulate movement near Tiananmen Gate of the Forbidden City imperial palace complex, where the Victory Parade will be held. In addition, viewing stands can be seen erected at the square. The stands are expected to accommodate more than 50,000 spectators during the military parade.  Various decorations, such as large '1945' and '2025' numbers, rainbows with white doves as symbols of peace, were also spotted adorning the capital, signalling Beijing's readiness for the grand event. China holds its landmark 80th anniversary Victory Parade in Beijing on September 3, marking the end of World War II and the Second Sino-Japanese War.  Nearly 30 world leaders from right across Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and  Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong Un, are expected at the event."
