'Major disgrace for the West!' - Tehran cleric slams UK, France, Germany over 'snapback' sanctions

"Tehran imam, Mohammad Javad Haj Ali Akbari, condemned the West during his sermon in the Iranian capital on Friday, criticising their decision to trigger the 'snapback mechanism' and warning of 'serious consequences' for both international security and the country’s relations with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). "This decision, of course, has consequences. It will affect the process of Iran's interactions with the agency [the IAEA], and it will affect international security. This is a major disgrace for the West and Europe," Akbari said. He insisted that Iran had fulfilled its nuclear obligations under the 2015 agreement. "Iran was adhering to its agreement; everyone knows this now. We acted on all the commitments we had." Locals also voiced anger at European governments. "It is perfectly clear that these three countries [UK, France, and Germany] follow the US and do not have an independent stance in their talks with Iran," one said. It comes after Britain, France and Germany announced on Thursday that they would move to reimpose UN sanctions against Iran, citing alleged breaches of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denounced the decision as 'unjustified and illegal', insisting that the mechanism had been triggered despite Iran’s continued commitment to transparency and diplomacy."

'I feel deep pride!' - Putin's trip to China has crowds 'excited' as Beijing hosts Russian Cultural Festival

"The Russian Cultural Festival in Beijing drew large crowds on Friday, with locals and tourists alike eager to experience Russian culture, history and the arts. Footage shows visitors sampling traditional Russian dishes and enjoying folk dance performances. The festival took place on the eve of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to China, where he will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit and Beijing's Victory Day parade. “I naturally feel deep national pride and excitement knowing that President Putin from our country will visit China,” said Renat Iusupov, a Russian influencer living in China. For Beijing resident Jia Fushuang, the significance of Putin’s trip is equally important. "This represents an important example of mutual coordination between nations," she said. "This demonstrates the friendly cooperation between our two countries and the significance of our international relations." Other attendees hailed the growing partnership between Moscow and Beijing and what it represents in an increasingly uncertain world. "There are just too many bad people out there. Only by standing together can China and Russia overcome them," said local man Sun Guoxun. "A lot of markets are closed to Russian goods right now, but China's market is really big, and there are a lot of opportunities to sell Russian goods in China, a Russian citizen added. The SCO Summit in Tianjin, running from August 31 to September 1, will bring together leaders from BRICS and other key nations, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping. China is also preparing for its Victory Day Parade on September 3, one of its largest annual national events."

Weld done! Pakistani artist creates stunning animal sculptures from scrap metal

"In the heart of Islamabad, artist Ehtisham Jadoon has transformed his outdoor workshop into a menagerie of welded wonders, where discarded scrap metal is reborn as lifelike beasts. Footage captured on Friday shows his collection of sculptures on display, most of them inspired by wildlife. A striking metal lion bears a mane fashioned from electric cables, while an imposing mountain goat stands alongside a rhino whose back leg ends in a pincer and whose body glints with a convex-shaped metal piece resembling a wok. Each of these formidable creations is built entirely from discarded materials, sourced mainly from junkyards and scrap dealers. "If you try to understand its materials, I have used SSPs, automotive parts, I mean, whatever best form of scrap I can collect myself, I use it accordingly. I have also used some antiques in this," explained Jadoon. The artist has gained recognition for his extraordinary ability to transform waste into intricate works of art, producing a fusion of industrial refuse and imaginative brilliance. In his hands, discarded metal finds new purpose as expressive, dynamic forms. He welds, shapes and assembles each fragment into detailed sculptures, his process embodying the principle of true upcycling, breathing life and value into what would otherwise be left as scrap. "It is a form of scrap, and when you utilise this (scrap) with some innovation and creativity and present to the people your creation, it becomes a value," he said. "Then you can sell it locally, but its broader market is international. I am trying to create such an ecosystem where we can create jobs for people," he added. Jadoon’s artistry is widely praised for its dynamism and realism, ranging from eagles in flight, roaring bears, horses and wolves, to insects. He also produces detailed human figures, including busts of historical and pop culture icons."

Ambulance under fire - Jakarta emergency response vehicle struck by tear gas as protests escalate over police killing

"An ambulance belonging to the Humanies Project, a youth-led humanitarian organisation, was struck by a tear gas canister in Jakarta on Friday as protesters clashed with police following the death of a delivery driver. Footage filmed inside the ambulance shows the driver and passenger swerving through crowds as protesters scatter. Moments later, a tear gas canister smashes into the windscreen, forcing the vehicle into a sharp U-turn amid clouds of smoke. The incident came as unrest flared in the capital after the death of a 21-year-old delivery rider, who was fatally run over by an armoured police vehicle during demonstrations near Parliament. Footage circulating online on Thursday shows a police vehicle accelerating into a crowd of protesters, striking the man, who was reportedly in the area completing a food delivery. His death has since become a rallying point for public anger over police brutality and economic inequality. President Prabowo Subianto condemned the police response as 'excessive' and called for a transparent investigation. The national police chief has issued a public apology and confirmed that seven officers have been detained in connection with the incident. Despite these pledges, protests have continued to spread beyond Jakarta, with demonstrations reported in several other major cities."
