"Pro-Palestine demonstrators filled the central train station in Amsterdam on Thursday, making noise with kitchenware and chanting slogans to denounce Israel’s military actions in Gaza and the Dutch government’s stance on the conflict. “The situation in Gaza has just been getting worse and worse. And the Dutch government is not taking the responsibility it should take. It has an obligation to do everything possible to stop the genocide, and it is simply not doing anything at all that is really meaningful,” an activist said during the rally. Footage shows participants carrying Palestinian flags and banners reading 'I oppose genocide', 'All Gaza’s universities destroyed or severely damaged,' and 'Wrong side of history'. Some demonstrators banged on pots and frying pans bearing Palestinian flags, while others wore T-shirts referencing student deaths in Gaza. The protesters also criticised the Dutch government which they said 'didn’t even do the minimum' to change the situation. "They’re saying now that we should do more, but they’re not doing anything. It’s inconceivable that the world is letting this happen,” a demonstrator said. Another protester, a doctor, condemned the recent strike on a hospital in Gaza saying: "If people bomb a hospital, I don’t have the words for that. It’s just crazy." The Hamas-Israel war in Gaza broke out on October 7, 2023, when the group launched an unprecedented attack on Israel, killing 1,139 people and kidnapping more than 200 others, according to the Israeli side. The Israeli military conducted a widespread military operation across Gaza, with more than 62,000 people killed at the time of publication, according to Palestinian officials."
