"Rescuers were seen recovering bodies in northern Gaza's Al Rimal district as Israel claims a 'key Hamas leader' was killed in a targeted airstrike on Saturday. The Palestinian Civil Defense reported that five people were killed, with 'many wounded' from strikes at two apartments in the Al Rimal neighbourhood. The Israeli military claimed in a statement that the strike targeted a 'key Hamas leader' in the northern Gaza Strip, noting that forces had adopted "numerous steps to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence." Hamas has yet to comment on these allegations at the time of publication. The conflict began after Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,139 people and taking 200 hostages. In retaliation, Israel has conducted a widespread military operation across Gaza. As a result, 63,371Palestinians were killed and 159,835others were injured at the time of publication, according to Gaza's Ministry of Health."
