MANILA, Philippines — This year marked a series of decisive actions by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as he initiated and pursued accountability in public office by going after individuals linked to anomalous projects, underscoring a firm commitment to clean and transparent governance, Malacañang said Wednesday. In a statement, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said that Marcos was the first president to expose and pursue actions against corruption, as good governance and accountability became defining pillars of his administration. The President also intensified efforts to deepen international partnerships, advance inclusive social reforms, strengthen food security, and improve public services. "The year 2025 reflected President Marcos’ multifaceted approach to governance—anchored on accountability, resilience, and the delivery of tangible improvements in the everyday lives of Filipinos," the PCO said.

MANILA, Philippines — Weather on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be generally fair with the northeast monsoon (amihan) and the easterlies affecting the country, the weather bureau said Wednesday. Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with light rains while the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, Daniel James Villamil of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in an early morning bulletin. Easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region and Quezon, Villamil said. Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies, he said. Villamil said Northern Luzon, Central Luzon and the eastern section of Southern Luzon will experience moderate to strong northeast winds and moderate to rough seas. The rest of the archipelago will have light to moderate northeast winds and slight to moderate coastal waters, he said.

MANILA, Philippines — Filipinos would have the chance to celebrate a generally fair-weather Christmas Day on Thursday, as the state-run weather agency said that it has not spotted any low-pressure area entering the country’s area of responsibility for the next three to five days. Weather specialist Daniel James Villamil of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that in the meantime, the easterlies would prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, where partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are likely.
