MANILA, Philippines — Some areas in Metro Manila, Batangas, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal will have power interruptions this week because of maintenance works, Meralco said on Sunday. In Metro Manila, some areas in Bgy. Sto. Niño, Parañaque City will have no power on November 11-12 between 11:30 p.m. and 4:30 a.m. because of the installation and replacement of electricity poles and line reconductoring work along Pascor Drive. Affected areas include a portion of Pascor Drive from Pascor Bridge to Veronica De Leon Ave., Santa Agueda St., Delbros Ave., Pacific Drive and Atlantic Drive; and Pacific Grand Villa Subd. In Quezon City, some parts of Brgy. Payatas will have no electricity on November 12-13 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. because of line reconductoring works and replacement of electricity poles along Paseo Del Carmen St. Affected areas include a portion of Paseo Del Carmen St. from Payatas Road (Litex Road) to Amlac Ville Subd.; Visayas St. in Dumpsite Neighborhood Association Compound; portion of Lupang Pangako Phases I and IV; Gravel Pit, Legaspi and Visayas Hills Sts.; and Amlac Senior High School. Also, some areas in Neopolitan Phase 6 Subd., Bgy. Pasong Putik, Quezon City will experience power interruptions on November 12 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. because of the installation of electricity poles and line reconductoring works. Those that will be affected include a portion of Ipil St. from Mahogany St. to Narra St. in Neopolitan Phase 6 Subd.; and a portion of Narra St. from Molave St. to Ipil St. including Talisay and Tindalo Sts. in Neopolitan Phase 6 Subd. In Caloocan City, some areas in Dagat–Dagatan will have no electricity on November 11-12 between 11:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. because of line reconductoring works along Lapu–Lapu Ext. St. Affected areas include a portion of Lapu–Lapu Ext. St. from Dagat–Dagatan Ave. to Salaysay, Sabalo, Alamang, Alimasag, Sinalyasi, Sapang, Sarimburaw, Sap–Sap and Kapak Liit Sts. In Navotas, some parts of Bgy. Tanza will have no power on November 14 between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. due to the upgrading of electricity facilities in Merville Subd., Bgy. Tanza. Areas that will be affected are a portion of Lawang Bato Road from Villa Lois Subd. in Bgy. Siling Bata to Pandi–Bustos Road including Padre Pio Subd., Pandi Heights Subd. Phases I and II, Pandi Village Phase I, Sitio Bitukang Manok and Sitio Lawang Bato in Bgys. Cacarong Bato, Cacarong Matanda and Pinagkuartelan in Pandi; A portion of Pandi–Bustos Road from Bgy. MANILA, Philippines — Amid the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan, 6,607 individuals, including passengers, crew and cargo staff, were stranded across 86 ports nationwide on Monday morning, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported. With wind signals as high as Signal no. 5 up, authorities have suspended sea travel in all areas affected by Uwan. Super Typhoon Uwan hits Bicol and Eastern Visayas, causes power outages

MANILA, Philippines — Power outages were reported Sunday in parts of Bicol and Eastern Visayas as Super Typhoon Uwan (international name Fung-wong) approaches the landmass of Luzon. In a video statement sent to reporters, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) deputy administrator for administration Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV said Uwan's strong winds and rains are already felt in these two regions. "Typhoon Uwan is now starting to affect Region 8 and the Bicol Region. It's near those areas and its rains and winds are already felt there," he said. Alejandro said based on initial reports coming from their regional offices, Tacloban City, along with the towns of Palo, Bato, Babatngon, all in Leyte, reported losing power as of 4 a.m., with some parts of Northern Samar also reporting power outages. Power outages were also reported in the Catanduanes area, the OCD official added. "Power outages are now being reported in various areas in the Bicol Region," Alejandro said. There were no reports yet of floods and landslides as of Sunday morning. Meanwhile, families preemptively evacuated in Albay were placed at about 50,000 as of 3 a.m. Sunday. Alejandro reminded all local government units in the path of ‘Uwan’, particularly in Southern, Central and Northern Luzon, to take the necessary preemptive measures.
