The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) has responded to the statement of Rhian Ramos’ mother, who assailed the group for supporting the actress’ driver accused of stealing. Clara Ramos earlier spoke out against VACC, pointing out the latter’s aired interviews with the driver which supposedly “[dished] out unverified information.” During these interviews following his testimony before the National Bureau of Investigation, the driver— alias Totoy— said he was tortured and illegally detained by Rhian and her fellow celebrities Michelle Dee and Samantha Panlilio. MANILA, Philippines — The third impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte has been transmitted to the Office of Speaker Faustino Dy Jr., according to House Secretary-General Cheloy Garafil. The complaint was filed by a group of private citizens composed of clergy, civil society leaders, and legal practitioners, led by Fr. Joel Saballa, Rev. Fr. Joselito Sarabia, Rev. Fr. Edilberto Baculi, Rev. Fr. Rogelio del Rosario, Pastor Leonard Arevalo, Pinky Tam, Maria Loreto Lopez, Jalilo dela Torre, lawyers Democrito and Lourdes Barcenas, Sister Ma. Liza Ruedas, Sr. Violeta Cecilio, and Sister Geraldine Denoga. Garafil said that the complaint was endorsed by Mamamayang Liberal Partylist Rep. Leila de Lima, completing the requirements for its transmittal to Dy for appropriate action. "I emphasize that the role of the Office of the Secretary General in impeachment proceedings is strictly ministerial. My office is tasked only with the receipt, verification, and transmission of impeachment complaints and their endorsements," Garafil said. Last Thursday, Garafil also endorsed to Dy's office the first two impeachment complaints against Duterte.
