Typhoon Uwan damages over 1,800 classrooms

MANILA, Philippines — Over 1,800 classrooms in at least 312 schools were damaged during Typhoon Uwan’s (international name: Fung Wong) onslaught in Luzon, the Department of Education (DepEd) reported on Monday. According to DepEd, most of the affected classrooms—1,182 in total—sustained minor damage, while 366 were heavily damaged and 261 were completely destroyed. CIDG October report: P98.2-M evidence seized; over 1,000 suspects nabbed

MANILA, Philippines — The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) on Monday reported that it confiscated P98.2 million worth of evidence and arrested 1,311 suspects during its October 2025 operations. The seized evidence included liquified petroleum products, vape products, drugs, and gmelina and mahogany lumbers that allegedly did not meet standards set by regulations, violated trademark laws, or were smuggled, the CIDG noted in a statement.
