NHA, DPWH team up for P1.8B housing for informal settlers in Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — National Housing Authority (NHA) General Manager Joeben Tai revealed on Tuesday that his agency teamed up with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to implement P1.8 billion worth of projects, particularly housing units to benefit informal settler families (ISFs) in Luzon. “We are moving ahead with NHA’s mandate to provide safe, decent, and affordable homes and we look forward to our collaboration with DPWH for the implementation of these projects that would benefit the informal settler families,” Tai said. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in the government's expanded "Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino" Housing (4PH) Program, the NHA chief told The Manila Times. Under a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed by both agencies, the DPWH shall fund the project implemented under the Comprehensive and Integrated Housing Program (CIHP) and Resettlement Program for ISFs of the NHA. “These funded projects will be constructed to address the relocation and resettlement needs of ISFs across Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon), and Central Luzon,” Tai said. He stressed that the NHA would remain the lead agency in the implementation and construction of various projects under the programs for a seamless transition for the families. Meanwhile, the DPWH will ensure timely fund transfers for the implementation of the projects, as well as provide assistance in securing required clearances from local government units (LGUs) and other concerned agencies.
