"Footage captured on Sunday evening shows flames burning and smoke rising following a drone attack that targeted the US base at Erbil Airport in Iraq's Kurdistan Region. The group known as 'Saraya Awliya al-Dam,' operating under the banner of the 'Islamic Resistance in Iraq,' claimed responsibility for the attack on Erbil Airport. "In fulfillment of our religious duty and in retribution for the blood of God’s guardian, the Imam and martyred leader Ali al-Husseini al-Khamenei (the Supreme Leader), and in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, our valiant fighters carried out today, Sunday 2026/3/1, an attack using a swarm of drones on US bases in Erbil," the group said in a statement. US air defense systems in Erbil had earlier intercepted a number of missiles launched toward the area. The United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iranian military targets on Saturday, with US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating their intention to dismantle Iran's missile capabilities. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced 'widespread missile and drone attacks' targeting Israel, while reports indicated that US military bases in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, and Kuwait were also targeted."
