UAE president meets African leaders on sidelines of sustainability summit

"UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with several African leaders on Tuesday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in economic, trade, and development on the sidelines of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. Footage shows Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed holding separate meetings with Nigeria's Bola Ahmed Tinubu, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, and Daniel Chapo, leader of Mozambique. According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Tinubu witnessed the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE and Nigeria, aimed at opening a new phase of trade and investment cooperation in support of sustainable development. The UAE president and Chapo also oversaw the signing of several memoranda of understanding and agreements covering diplomatic relations, healthcare, environmental protection and community cooperation, reinforcing bilateral ties between the two countries. WAM said Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed used the meetings to review opportunities to expand cooperation in priority areas, including economic development, trade, renewable energy and sustainability, in line with shared development goals and mutual interests. The UAE president also discussed with the African leaders the role of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week as a global platform for exchanging expertise and ideas, aimed at developing innovative solutions to global sustainability challenges and contributing to long-term prosperity."
