‘Jalalabad is in chaos’ - Taliban spokesperson accuses Pakistan of trying to 'impose domestic will' on Afghanistan

"Taliban chief spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, accused Pakistan of attempting to 'impose its domestic will on Afghanistan’, 'regretful' as military tensions between the neighboring countries intensified. Speaking from Kandahar on Friday about Pakistani military operations, Mujahid laid the blame for the escalation firmly with Islamabad. "They violated our airspace and bombed civilians, resulting in the senseless killing of innocent people, including children and women. All principles and laws have been blatantly disregarded. Jalalabad is in chaos, and the situation is fresh,” he explained. 'The Islamic Emirate has always insisted on peaceful negotiations,' the Afghan official stressed. "This morning airstrikes were again carried out in Paktia, Paktika, Khost, Laghman and Kunar, causing significant casualties and losses to local people. The casualties and losses have been reported," Mujahid continued. He also confirmed that the Ministry of Defence had conducted 'retaliatory operations against enemy forces'. Meanwhile, the Pakistani military announced on Friday it had launched airstrikes on 22 locations inside Afghanistan as part of an operation entitled Righteous Fury, which it stated came in response to attacks on its forces by Taliban forces. Pakistani army spokesperson General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed airstrikes had struck ‘carefully selected’ targets in Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, Nangarhar, Khost, and Paktika, while stressing they were all military. This follows what Taliban forces described as 'broad offensive operations’ against Pakistani military targets along the Durand Line overnight Thursday, according to Mujahid. "

'Iran has isolated itself' - Italy’s Tajani condemns violence in Middle East, says 'ready to report to Senate'

'Iran has isolated itself' - Italy’s Tajani condemns violence in Middle East, says 'ready to report to Senate'

" Italy’s Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Sunday condemned Iran’s missile retaliation against Israel and several Gulf states, describing the attacks as “senseless”, warning that Tehran has further isolated itself diplomatically and noting that he had made himself available to brief Italy’s parliament on developments. “What we condemn with great firmness is the Iranian reaction, which violently attacked countries that had nothing to do with it... Because attacking Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, is devoid of any sense,” Tajani told reporters in Rome. Tajani said it had long been Italy’s position that Iran must not be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon or expand its ballistic missile arsenal. The comments come after Iran launched missiles at Israel and several Gulf countries hosting US military bases following large-scale US-Israeli strikes on Iranian targets. “We stand in solidarity with the Gulf countries because they are victims of a senseless attack, because it wasn't just the bases that were there; they attacked, in reality, places where there weren't only military personnel,” Tajani added. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the launch of a joint operation with the United States on Saturday "to eliminate the existential threat posed by the terrorist regime in Iran." According to media reports, Iran then targeted bases providing support to the United States and Israel, with explosions heard in the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Over the past 24 hours, Gulf governments have heightened security around key infrastructure, while emergency meetings have been held within the Arab League and the Gulf Cooperation Council. Iran, Israel, Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar and Kuwait reportedly closed their airspace, and temporary restrictions have been imposed in the UAE. It follows three rounds of talks between the Iranian and American sides, one in Muscat and two in Geneva, in recent weeks."

Beit Shemesh aftermath - Crews clear debris and secure site after Iranian missile strike kills 9, injures dozens

Beit Shemesh aftermath - Crews clear debris and secure site after Iranian missile strike kills 9, injures dozens

"Emergency crews were seen clearing through the rubble on the site of the Iranian strikes in Beit Shemesh on Sunday that killed at least nine people and injured dozens, according to Israeli ambulance services.  Crews were seen working behind a cordon, clearing debris from heavily damaged homes as smoke rose over the neighbourhood. Beit Shemesh Mayor says a few people still cannot be reached, although not all are necessarily at the impact site. Iranian state media reported the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during the attacks, prompting Tehran to declare 40 days of national mourning and a seven-day public holiday, with all government offices and schools closed as the country prepares for funeral rites. The United States and Israel launched a joint strike on Saturday, with US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing to 'destroy Iran's missiles.'  In response, Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps said that 'widespread missile and drone attacks' against Israel were underway. US bases were also reportedly targeted in the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq and Kuwait. The developments follow three recent rounds of talks between Iranian and American officials, one held in Muscat and two in Geneva. Russia, China, France, Bahrain and Colombia have called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, where members were divided between urging an immediate halt to hostilities and pressing Iran to abandon its nuclear programme."
