"French President Emmanuel Macron landed in Egypt's Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday for the Gaza peace summit, co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and US President Donald Trump. Upon landing in Egypt, the French leader told the press that the 'priority' is to ensure the resumption of humanitarian operations in Gaza 'within the next few hours.' "We're going to make sure that humanitarian operations can resume as soon as possible to support the populations," Macron stressed. "France is going to be one of the players, with our NGOs and the Quai d'Orsay crisis centre, alongside the civilian population." He also announced that France and Egypt will organise a humanitarian conference for Gaza 'in the next few weeks,' centered around establishing 'sustainable' humanitarian operations and reconstruction in the enclave. "We're going to work with the United States of America, the countries of the region, the European and Arab countries, to create a framework that will enable an international stabilisation force to be deployed and provide a framework of support," Macron added. "Finally, of course, we'll be working on all aspects of governance [...] to ensure that we have a governance framework that allows the Palestinians to have their share in the governance of Gaza, but which also provides the political perspective for the day after," he continued. The Gaza peace summit kicks off in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday. The diplomatic gathering brings together leaders from more than 20 Arab and Western nations, in addition to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The talks will focus on the future of Gaza and cementing the Israel-Hamas peace agreement, marking a decisive step toward ending the two-year war. The first phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into force on Friday, covering a ceasefire, the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners, as well as an Israeli withdrawal to the 'yellow line', a boundary limit within Gaza. The truce forms part of US President Donald Trump's 20-point Gaza peace proposal, unveiled on September 29 alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu."

"UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer headed to the Gaza peace summit signing ceremony in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday. "I'm on my way to the signing ceremony for the peace agreement, which is truly historic. And we all owe thanks to President Trump, to Egypt, Turkey and Qatar. Really important now that all parties implement this. And we stand ready as the United Kingdom to play our part," Starmer said. World leaders, including US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, among others, will meet in Egypt for the official signing of the Gaza peace deal. The final twenty living hostages were handed over by Hamas to the Red Cross earlier on Monday. The bodies of 28 deceased hostages will also be returned later, while around 1,700 Palestinians detained in Gaza since October 2023, as well as 250 more serving life sentences, will be freed under the deal. The first phase of the agreement reached by Israel and Hamas last week covers the ceasefire, the swapping of hostages and prisoners, and the Israeli military withdrawal to the 'yellow line' in Gaza. Subsequent phases will include the governance of Gaza, the future of Hamas and the reconstruction of the enclave."
