"13 residents, including children, are alleged to have been killed on Friday morning after an Israeli raid and ensuing clashes with local youths in Beit Jin, in an operation the Syrian foreign ministry has condemned as a 'war crime.' Footage from Friday shows the aftermath, including a burnt Israeli military vehicle, bullet-marked cars, and shattered windows across the town. "At around 3:30 am, we were asleep. They entered the town (referring to the Israeli army) and began shooting at houses and children. Suddenly, they started killing young people and civilians, so the youth began to resist. Some of them (referring to the Israeli soldiers) were killed, and they burned the vehicle (an Israeli military vehicle)," explained resident Ali Ahmed Kamal. Fellow resident Nidal Qiblani described the 'ruthless' operation in which Israeli forces entered the town to arrest young people. He said the troops opened fire, detained three residents, and used artillery and drones, causing extensive destruction. "An entire family was killed: a mother, a father, and their children. These are young people who were asleep and safe, with no political problems at all," added Qiblani. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Israeli army carried out 'an aggression on the town of Beit Jin in the Damascus countryside at dawn', resulting in deaths as well as dozens of injuries. The report said Israeli forces entered the town, arrested three people, and then withdrew, prompting residents to confront them as they were leaving. SANA added that Israeli aircraft conducted extensive overflights as people began fleeing to neighbouring towns. Later, the Israeli army said it had conducted an operation to arrest suspects from the 'Islamic Group Organisation', acting on intelligence gathered over recent weeks. The army stated that the suspects had been operating in the Beit Jin area and had carried out attacks against Israeli civilians. It added that armed men opened fire on the troops during the raid, and that forces returned fire with aerial support. The army reported that six Israeli soldiers were wounded - with injuries ranging from severe to minor - and taken to the hospital. It said the operation had concluded with all suspects arrested and 'a number of terrorists' killed."
