"Thousands of supporters of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) gathered at Kololo Independence Grounds for President Yoweri Museveni's final campaign rally in the capital city of Kampala on Tuesday, ahead of Ugandan presidential election scheduled to kick off on Thursday. Footage shows President Museveni arriving in motorcade, as well as walking on yellow carpet accompanied by the First Lady Janet Museveni, with supporters cheering wearing yellow NRM-branded shirts, hats and dresses. "We are very excited, and I expect us to win by 85 percent," said one supporter. "I see a large number of supporters coming from the Central, Western, Northern and Eastern regions of Uganda." "We expect him to win with 70 percent of the vote. We have seen the results of his work. There is peace, unity and free education," another attendee added. "My big concern is security, because we have to protect our people. We don't care which party you come from; our priority is security," highlighted a participant. Late on Tuesday night, Ugandan authorities cut off internet access across the country, saying the move was intended to "prevent the spread of misinformation" and to "curb incitement to violence" during the electoral process. President Museveni, 81, who has been in power since 1986, is seeking a seventh term, campaigning on slogans of "protecting achievements and maintaining stability." Meanwhile, his main challenger, singer-turned-politician Bobi Wine, 43, has emerged as a key opposition figure, appealing largely to a youth base calling for change."
