Blow For Jeremy Corbyn As Your Party Members Say He Can't Run For Leader

Jeremy Corbyn at the inaugural conference of new political venture Your Party. Jeremy Corbyn has suffered a major blow after his new party’s rank-and-file rejected his bid to become its leader. Members of the new Your Party voted narrowly against having a single elected leader, opting instead for a collective model that put a committee of activists in charge. Corbyn had previously said he backed the “sole leader” model and would stand for the position. The collective model was supported by former Labour MP Zarah Sultana, who is engaged in a power struggle with Corbyn and his supporters. She said: Together, we’re building a new socialist party – radically democratic and powered by a mass movement. This party will be led by its members, not MPs.” A Your Party spokesperson said the vote “shows that we really are doing politics differently: from the bottom up, not the top down”. Related... 'Lucky to have Japan as our second home' - Hundreds flock to Tokyo as Philippine Festival 2025 kicks off

"Hundreds of people flocked to the Philippine Festival 2025 in Tokyo on Saturday as the grand cultural event kicked off at Yoyogi Park, featuring joyful activities and culturally rich programmes. Footage shows visitors touring various booths at the event, taking pictures, and exploring different Filipino products. They can also be seen engaging in lively games and performances, experiencing traditional Filipino massages, and savouring a variety of Filipino delicacies. "This Philippine festival is our way of raising money so that we have funds to support these Filipinos who need assistance. Also, we have projects that we support in the Philippines for poor communities," Vice Chairman of the Philippine Assistant Group Erwin Brunio noted. "The Philippines in Japan is indeed showing the uniqueness and the support for each other, so we are very lucky to have Japan as our second home," he added. Brunio underlined that the 2025 edition also serves as a 'precocious' event to mark the Philippines-Japan relations' 70th anniversary next year. The Philippine Festival 2025 runs from November 29 to 30 at Tokyo's Yoyogi Park. At the end of 2024, approximately 341,000 Filipino nationals resided in Japan, making them the fourth-largest foreign community in the country, according to reports."

'We can't allow this to happen!' - UN's Albanese, Thunberg lead Rome march demanding embargo on arms sales to Israel

"Tens of thousands of pro-Palestine demonstrators marched through the streets of Rome on the UN Solidarity Day for Palestine, demanding a ceasefire in Gaza and an embargo on arms sales to Israel. Footage captured on Saturday shows large crowds of protesters parading while waving Palestinian flags and holding banners bearing anti-government slogans. UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese, can also be seen leading the march alongside activists Greta Thunberg and Thiago Avila. "I know that a ceasefire could become a form of violence legitimising the continuation of ethnic cleansing, far from our watchful eyes. We cannot allow this to happen to the Palestinian people," Albanese addressed protesters. "Italy is one of the most complicit countries in this genocide when it comes to financial, military, political, and social support for Israel while they are conducting massacres," Thunberg added. Italy's government earlier announced the suspension of all new arms export licences to Israel since October 7, 2023, while reassessing existing licenses on a case-by-case basis. However, data in the 2024 Report to Parliament indicates that €4.2 million ($4.58 million) worth of military equipment, including items under pre-existing contracts, was still exported to Israel via 212 transactions during 2024. Gaza's Health Ministry reported on Saturday that the Palestinian death toll has now surpassed 70,100 since the conflict began. Israel continues to carry out strikes as both sides accuse the other of breaking the deal."

At the end of the match, fans took to the streets surrounding the stadium, waving red-and-black flags, lighting flares, and chanting 'Mengao four-time champion'. "They deserved this championship, they deserved this four-peat, and it makes their nation immensely happy. And we were very, very well received here in Peru, in Lima," said Sergio Galmon, a Flamengo fan. Meanwhile, some Palmeiras supporters defended their team’s performance and expressed confidence that their squad will reach another Libertadores final. "In the end, what matters is being there, always giving your best and participating. And you can be sure that Palmeiras will come back next year; we’ll be there," said Matheus Ribeiro, a Palmeiras fan. After an intense game, the red-and-black team managed to take the lead thanks to a header from Danilo in the 67th minute. This goal also secured their fourth continental title. From the beginning, the Peruvian police deployed a strong force to ensure security at the event. So far, no incidents have been reported. The celebrations reportedly continued towards downtown Lima."
