"Thousands of Palestine supporters gathered in Berlin on Saturday for the 'United 4 Gaza' rally, calling for an end to what they described as 'genocide' and commemorating the victims of the two-year conflict in Gaza. Footage shows crowds assembling early in the day, waving Palestinian flags and carrying placards. Rally participants marched through the city streets, holding photos of murdered journalists and confronting police during moments of tension. During the event, a banner reading 'Are we terrorists?' was also seen. Thomas, a Jewish pro-Palestine protester, said he joined the march to demand freedom for Palestinians and to denounce what he viewed as ongoing oppression. "After the so-called peace plan, which in my view is a new plan of occupation, the Palestinians themselves can decide what to do with their land and their people and not be ruled by others," the man said. Another protester, Fabi, criticised recent peace initiatives, calling them politically motivated. "This deal comes from the USA out of an interest that they actually don’t want to support Israel right now […] The realistic interests of the USA are focused on Taiwan," he said. "This peace is really just a temporary truce so that the USA can focus on its main enemy," Fabi added. Police were also seen monitoring the rally, as both pro-Israel and pro-Palestine groups faced off in heated exchanges. Several protesters were detained as tensions rose, but the majority of the protest remained peaceful. The Gaza ceasefire went into effect on Friday as Israeli forces started withdrawing from parts of Gaza. On September 29, US President Donald Trump unveiled his 20-point Gaza plan alongside Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. The plan itself would see an immediate end to fighting, with the release of all hostages alive or dead within 72 hours, as well as 250 Palestinians serving life sentences and 1,700 Gazans who were detained after October 7. Hamas conditionally accepted the US-brokered plan, offering to release Israeli captives through Qatari and Egyptian mediators if Israel agrees to a lasting peace and full withdrawal. Trump welcomed the response, describing it as a 'very special' moment and 'unprecedented in many ways'."
"Relief efforts intensified in Hanoi's outskirts as several areas remain submerged after floods peaked earlier this week. Footage from Soc Son district filmed on Saturday shows aid teams loading supplies onto boats and rafts to reach affected residents. Streets, infrastructure, and homes across large areas were seen completely underwater. "I've never seen a flood hitting our village, our commune, like this at the moment. Thumping sounds came past my house just right now, it happened so fast [...] It's very dangerous," expressed a local. He also highlighted the challenges facing the region, including damaged crops and water wells rendered unusable due to contamination from factory oil. Authorities, meanwhile, have ramped up flood response to assist locals, with an officer from the Waterway Police Force noting, "As soon as the water recedes, we, officers from the Waterway Police Force's 1st Department, are always on standby to help people clean their houses and overcome the consequences of natural disasters." As of Friday, floodwaters on Hanoi's Cau and Ca Lo rivers stood 1.5 to over 2 meters above alarm level 3, peaking Thursday night. Water levels have begun to recede, but flooding may persist for up to four days due to slow drainage, officials said. Emergency measures, including reservoir gate openings, are underway to reduce flood risks downstream. Heavy rains from Typhoon Matmo have wreaked havoc on Hanoi’s outskirts, leaving at least 18 dead or missing. Local media report that nearly 22,600 hectares of crops were destroyed, hundreds of thousands of livestock were swept away, and around 17,000 homes were flooded."
