Welcoming embrace - Freed Palestinian prisoners receive grand reception in Cairo after Gaza ceasefire deal

"Freed Palestinian prisoners received a grand welcome in Cairo on Monday as part of the Gaza ceasefire deal's first phase. Footage shows emotional embraces between the freed prisoners and their families at a hotel in Cairo, as members of the Palestinian community gathered and chanted: 'With our soul and blood, we sacrifice for you, Palestine.' "We thank the resistance in Gaza, we pray for mercy upon our martyrs in Gaza, and we thank all the negotiators who worked on this honorable deal for our people in Gaza and their detainees inside prisons," freed prisoner Hisham Al-Kaabi said. Al-Kaabi had been sentenced to four life terms and spent 21 years in Israeli prisons. He is one of 154 Palestinian prisoners deported by Israel to Egypt under the terms of the agreement. Earlier, Hamas had handed over 20 living hostages to Israel, along with the remains of four deceased hostages, with the remaining to be returned at a later stage. On September 29, US President Donald Trump unveiled his 20-point plan regarding Gaza, alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire, with the release of all hostages, alive or deceased, within 72 hours, in addition to the release of 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences, and 1,700 Palestinians from Gaza who were arrested after October 7. The plan also includes allowing 'full aid' to Gaza, granting amnesty to Hamas members who agree to peace, or providing a safe passage for others, without forcing anyone to leave the territory. Hamas has conditionally accepted the US-brokered plan, offering to release Israeli hostages through Qatari and Egyptian mediators, provided that Israel agrees to a permanent peace and a full withdrawal."
