Boric accuses Maduro of ‘authoritarian deviations’ in Rome, claims Venezuela is involved in killing of dissident in Chile

"*SCRIPT TO FOLLOW* Chilean President Gabriel Boric warned of "authoritarian deviations" during the commemoration in Rome of the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Bernardo Leighton, Wednesday. Boric accused Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro of being a “dictator”, and claimed that “we cannot lose sight of the fact that authoritarian deviations can be the order of the day anywhere and that the defence of democracy has to be without double standards.”
"Dictatorships and authoritarian leaders cross borders to impose fear when they believe they can do so with impunity,” added the Chilean leader, referring to the killing of military dissident Ronald Ojeda in Chilean soil.

Ronald Ojeda Moreno was a Venezuelan military officer known for his opposition to the government of Nicolas Maduro.Ojeda was arrested accused of rebellion and treason, but managed to escape during a transfer to Ramo Verde Prison. He managed to flee to Peru and later settled in Chile, where he was killed. The Chilean authorities suggested that the crime had political motives and was orchestrated from Venezuela."
