'We will remember him as number one' - Family and fans bid farewell to Colombian music star Yeison Jimenez at public funeral

"Family members, fellow artists and fans gathered at Bogota's Movistar Arena on Wednesday to pay their final respects to Yeison Jimenez, one of the leading figures of Colombian popular music, who died on January 10 in a plane crash. He was killed when the small aircraft he was travelling in went down in the department of Boyaca. Five others also died in the accident, including four members of his team and the pilot. Footage shows Jimenez's relatives crying in front of the singer's photograph by his coffin, while crowds of followers wave white balloons in the stands. Thousands of fans are also seen queuing outside, many wearing Jimenez's merchandise and singing his songs. Singer Jorge Andres Alzate Rios, artistically known as Alzate, recalled his closeness with Jimenez and highlighted his legacy in popular music. "I was able to share beautiful things with him, to live with him, he lived in my house during the pandemic, for several weeks, months, I think, we were able to share a very beautiful moment," he said. "We shared the success of popular music; he and I were in the same hotels, on the same stages, in the same airports, the same fans, we both opened the field and the path for many in places where a popular music artist had never been before," he added. Ana Gomez, a fan of Jimenez, pointed out the impact he had on Colombian families. "The vast majority of us grew up with his music. [...] I had the opportunity to go to his concerts, and honestly, he was a person," she shared. "It is very unfortunate what happened to him, but we will always remember him as Colombia's number one." The singer was buried at the Jardines del Recuerdo cemetery in northern Bogota, where only family members and close friends attended, according to local media reports. "

'He can go to hell' - Senegal fans condemn Trump's visa suspension amid celebrations of AFCON semifinal win

"Senegal football fans filled the streets of Dakar on Wednesday to celebrate the national team's AFCON semifinal victory over Egypt. Nevertheless, the jubilation was overshadowed by concerns after the Trump administration suspended US visa processing for citizens of 75 countries, casting uncertainty over supporters' plans to travel to the US for the World Cup this summer. "We don't listen to the President of the United States, we Senegalese and our supporters are going to the World Cup, he can go to hell," one expressed his dissent. "In all European, African or Asian countries, when you organise a World Cup, you must invite everyone; truly everyone must participate," another pointed out. The US State Department announced on Wednesday an indefinite suspension of immigrant visa processing for citizens of 75 countries, including Guatemala, citing a reassessment of its 'public charge' screening protocols. In a post on X, the department said migrants from the affected countries "benefit from social assistance from the American people at unacceptable rates," adding that the pause will remain in place until the US "can ensure that new immigrants do not benefit from the wealth of the American people." The suspension is set to take effect on January 21. Countries affected include Iran, Russia, Georgia, Brazil, Colombia, Ghana, Kuwait and Thailand, among others. Footage also shows football fans gathering at various corners of Dakar to watch the AFCON semifinal, where supporters erupted in celebrations after Senegal edged Egypt through Sadio Mane's late goal. "I am really happy because Senegal won, and especially for Sadio Mane because his goal was so beautiful. I am very proud," shared a fan. Senegal will face Morocco in the final on January 19, after the hosts beat Nigeria 4-2 on penalties in the second semifinal."
