'Our objective is to make history' — Morocco 'full of confidence' ahead of AFCON semi-final against unbeaten Nigeria

"Morocco head into Wednesday’s AFCON semi-final against Nigeria with confidence and a ‘sense of occasion’, as coach Walid Regragui hailed the clash as one of the most important matches the nation has ever played. Footage from Tuesday shows Regragui with Morocco goalkeeper Munir El Kajoui attending a press conference. Later, Nigerian coach Eric Chelle, with forward Alex Iwobi, is seen arriving and addressing the media. Speaking ahead of the match, Regragui said Morocco were embracing expectations rather than surprise. He added that, unlike Qatar 2022, “today we are in our place, everyone knows it, it is logical, and our objective is to make history.” Regragui also noted, “It will be 22 years since Morocco played in an Africa Cup of Nations semi-final,” adding that his focus was on “a new generation seeing Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations final tomorrow.” For Nigeria, forward Alex Iwobi addressed using World Cup qualification disappointment as fuel. “It was, of course, a difficult moment for us […] but we use it as motivation to achieve something for our country.” Nigeria arrive at the semi-final as the only team to have won all five of their matches at AFCON 2025, while unbeaten Morocco dropped points with a group-stage draw against Mali. Their last AFCON encounter was a 1–0 Moroccan group-stage victory in January 2004. "

Keep it clean! - UK PM says opposition 'had more positions than the Kama Sutra' and 'left country screwed' as Badenoch smashes him for latest U-turn

"The House of Commons took a rather smutty turn on Wednesday - as PM Sir Keir Starmer accused the opposition of having had 'more positions than the Kama Sutra'. The heated session saw Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch initially blast the PM for the latest U-turn - on digital ID cards. "Yesterday, the Health Secretary said the Prime Minister's New Year's resolution should be, and I quote, to try to get it right first. I quote, to try to get it right first... My question is, does he agree?" she asked. "On consistency, do not get me started on five Prime Ministers, six Chancellors, eight Home Secretaries and 16 Housing Ministers. They had more positions in 14 years than the Kama Sutra. No wonder they are knackered and they left the country screwed," Starmer reacted, with noticeably coarser language than normally heard in the chamber. During the session, the PM also commented on Iran, accusing the authorities there of 'murder' amid ongoing protests - and saying he was working on 'further sanctions'. Tehran has hit back at Western - and particularly US - interference, claiming they were inflaming tensions. Starmer was asked about a Jewish lawmaker 'prevented from visiting a school in his constituency because he is Jewish' - and said "we will be holding those to account who prevented this visit to this school." The MP was not named, but it reported to be Labour MP Damien Egan. The Bristol Palestine Solidarity Campaign wrote on social media at the time: “The planned school visit by Damien Egan, MP for Bristol North East, has been cancelled after concerns were raised by the NEU [National Education Union] staff group, parents and local constituents. This is a clear message: politicians who openly support Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza are not welcome in our schools." Egan is a Jewish MP and vice-chair of Labour Friends of Israel."
