"Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa welcomed Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Sunday, ahead of their bilateral meeting in Quito amid rising tensions between the US and Iran in the Middle East. Footage shows Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan being received by Noboa in Independence Square, in front of Carondelet Palace, where he laid a floral offering in the colours of the United Arab Emirates flag. The meeting takes place as Ecuador and the UAE prepare to sign a recently concluded Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which provides preferential access to the Emirati market for 98 per cent of negotiated products and immediate zero tariffs for 75 per cent, within a universe of more than 4,000 goods. This comes amid regional escalations between the US and Iran in the Middle East, which triggered political instability, air route closures, and global security alerts. In an official statement, Ecuador condemned attacks attributed to Iran in response to United States intervention, considering that they affect regional stability. Ecuador's Foreign Ministry urged the international community to uphold international law and expressed its solidarity with the governments and peoples of the Middle East affected by the aggressions."

"Thousands of supporters of former president Jair Bolsonaro rallied across Brazil on Sunday, demanding amnesty for those involved in the takeover and vandalism of government buildings following his defeat in the 2022 presidential election. Footage shows demonstrators marching through Sao Paulo, chanting, carrying Brazilian flags and inflatable figures depicting caricatures of Bolsonaro, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Vice-President of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes. The demonstration, named 'Wake up, Brazil', was called by Federal Deputy Nikolas Ferreira through social media to criticise the federal government, the country's leader and the justices of the STF. "It is incredible how this left has caused the arrest of a good, innocent and just man, a Brazilian who loves Brazil, loves Brazilians, and who is now in prison, while criminal thieves are free in this country, it is unbelievable", shared Edson, a demonstrator. On January 8, 2023, following Lula da Silva's assumption of power, radicalised groups invaded the headquarters of the three branches of government in Brasilia, an event authorities described as an attempt to interfere with the country's democratic order. Since then, the STF has pushed forward investigations and judicial proceedings against hundreds of those involved, who argue that the court's decisions are politically motivated. "Regarding the STF, we know that many things are wrong. [...] People fight, they fight for our rights, for justice and especially for justice for Bolsonaro, who was the best president and truly is today the representative of the Brazilian people," remarked protester Marcia. The Lula government has repeatedly stated that it will not interfere in judicial decisions and that accountability for the events of January 2023 is essential for democratic stability. "

"United States Central Command (CENTCOM) on Monday released a video in which it claimed to have struck Iran's ballistic missile facilities, hours after saying its B-2 bombers attacked the installations. "The Iranian regime's reckless use and proliferation of ballistic missiles have been a dangerous threat for decades. Now, at the President's direction, US forces are eliminating the threat," CENTCOM said on X. "Last night, US B-2 stealth bombers, armed with 2,000 lb. bombs, struck Iran's hardened ballistic missile facilities," it also announced in an earlier post. Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the UK would allow the US to take defensive actions from its military bases. The United States and Israel launched coordinated strikes on Iranian military targets on Saturday, with US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating their intention to dismantle Iran's missile capabilities. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced 'widespread missile and drone attacks' targeting Israel, while reports indicated that US military bases in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, and Kuwait were also targeted. The date and location of the video shared by CENTCOM cannot be independently verified."

"Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced in a video statement on Sunday that the UK agreed to allow the United States to use British bases for a 'specific and limited defensive purpose', marking a significant step in London's response to the deepening regional crisis. "The United States has requested permission to use British bases for that specific and limited defensive purpose. We have taken the decision to accept this request to prevent Iran firing missiles across the region," he proclaimed after emergency security consultations. The Prime Minister stressed that the UK is not participating in offensive strikes. "We are not joining these strikes, but we will continue with our defensive actions in the region," he asserted, noting, "We have British jets in the air as part of coordinated defensive operations which have already successfully intercepted Iranian strikes." "We will also bring experts from Ukraine together with our own experts to help Gulf partners shoot down Iranian drones attacking them," Starmer persisted, framing the move as part of broader efforts to protect civilians and allied infrastructure from aerial attacks. He explained, "The basis of our decision is the collective self-defence of long-standing friends and allies and protecting British lives." The development comes amid sharply escalating regional tensions following exchanges of strikes between the United States, Israel and Iran. Iranian state television earlier confirmed that Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, who had ruled since 1989 and held ultimate authority over the country's political, military and religious institutions, was killed in strikes carried out on Saturday. Iranian officials warned that his killing would mark a turning point, with the Revolutionary Guard vowing retaliation and declaring that "this great crime will not go unpunished." Israeli leaders indicated that operations were ongoing, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signalling that further action against Iran was planned."
"Residents in Semarang are living in fear that their homes could be swallowed up after a massive sinkhole tore through the ground, leaving a vast crater and deep fissures cutting across residential land. Drone footage from Sunday shows an enormous chasm splitting the landscape, with fractured earth stretching across the affected area. On the ground, locals can be seen standing near the cordoned-off zone. "The damage from this landslide is clearly very severe. It has already encroached on residential land; all these houses could be destroyed. It started small, but now it has grown this large. It is quite deeply concerning for us," resident Suwito said. Several homes have reportedly been compromised, forcing some families to evacuate as the ground continues to shift. Wahyu Hidayat, Head of East Ungaran District, claimed that authorities had coordinated with village officials and police to secure the area. "We have installed police lines and warning signs near the landslide pit to ensure the public does not approach the danger zone," he said. "Furthermore, we have implemented an Early Warning System (EWS) that will trigger an alarm if any further ground vibrations are detected," he continued. The subsidence follows weeks of torrential rain in Semarang Regency, which authorities say destabilised the soil and triggered significant ground movement. Key transport links, including the Ungaran–Mranggen corridor, have been disrupted."
"Hundreds of Iranians gathered in a central square in Tehran on Sunday to mourn Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, killed in joint US-Israel air strikes on the presidential complex, with some demanding revenge. Footage shows mourners crying, thumping their chests, chanting: 'Down with Israel', waving Iranian flags and holding signs reading: 'My martyred leader, I swear to your pure blood, your path will continue'. "Mothers of all American soldiers are going to burst into tears in the [next] several days, because we are not going to let them hit our leadership and just go," proclaimed demonstrator Soheil Saber. "We have lost our father, lost our Imam. He was like a father to us, our warmth. He was the father of the Ummah," said a mourner. Alireza Sharifi, a local, urged Iranian officials take revenge and 'strongly defend' Iranians. "The revenge of all the martyrs, our dear leader, Imam Khamenei, at the forefront, the girls of Minab school, and everyone." "We are actually failing for the third time now, meaning we are actually being deceived by America, starting with the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) that they tore up, the 12-day war that happened in the middle of negotiations, and the current war that has started again in the middle of negotiations," he added. According to the Head of the Islamic Propagation Coordination Council of Tehran province, citizens gathered across the main squares of the capital to commemorate the death of the supreme leader."
"The second meeting of Iran's three-member Interim Leadership Council was held in Tehran on Monday, as authorities move to run the government following the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khomeini in joint US–Israeli air strikes, Iranian state media reported. Images show Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Chief Justice Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, and Guardian Council member Ayatollah Alireza Arafi holding a meeting. Iranian leadership has begun the process of selecting Khamenei's successor, while US President Donald Trump has vowed to continue the operation until its targets are achieved. According to Article 111 of Iran's Constitution, a temporary leadership council is authorised to assume the supreme leader's duties until a successor is elected."
"Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum reiterated on Sunday that Mexico remains firm in its support for world peace amid the recent armed conflicts in the Middle East. During a public event in the state of Baja California Sur, the president commented on the escalation of violence between the United States, Israel, and Iran. "In these difficult times for the world, Mexico has always fought for peace, always, under any circumstances," she said. Sheinbaum clarified that Mexico's voice must be clear in favour of stability and international cooperation, at a time when different powers are redefining alliances and international strategies. "These will always be the principles of our country's foreign policy, and that is what we defend in the face of any situation in the world. Mexico will always advocate for world peace," she emphasised.
