US President Donald Trump declares ‘the war is over’ as he flies to Israel on Air Force One to address the Knesset
"Hundreds of activists marched through the streets of Seoul on Sunday to express solidarity with Palestine, after the ceasefire in Gaza took effect on Friday. Footage shows demonstrators marching with signs, Palestinian flags, and a banner reading 'Israel out of Gaza! Solidarity with Palestinians!' Protesters later staged a sit-in outside Open Songhyeon Green Plaza to hear speeches from Palestinians living in South Korea. "I hope that Palestinians who have endured unreasonable suffering can finally live without fear or worry and enjoy a life free from pain," shared a protester. Activists from overseas also attended the rally, voicing their constant support for Palestine for the past two years. "Being on my own made me feel very... not useless, so much as powerless, and it was a very painful situation to be in and to witness a genocide, to feel that there is nothing I can do to contribute to countering it. So I was very grateful when I found this community here," expressed one. "I've been an activist for many years, and coming out for Palestine is the right thing to do. [...] It is such a beautiful occasion to see everybody out together and fighting for a free Palestine," added another. It comes after the Gaza ceasefire went into force on Friday, as Israeli forces started withdrawing from parts of Gaza. On September 29, Trump unveiled his 20-point Gaza plan alongside Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. The plan itself would see an immediate end to fighting, with the release of all hostages alive or dead within 72 hours, as well as 250 Palestinians serving life sentences and 1,700 Gazans who were detained after October 7. Hamas conditionally accepted the US-brokered plan, offering to release Israeli captives through Qatari and Egyptian mediators if Israel agrees to a lasting peace and full withdrawal. Trump welcomed the response, describing it as a 'very special' moment and 'unprecedented in many ways'."
