A ‘high value man’ had some advice for unmarried women and of all the mockery that ensued this A++ takedown beat all-comers

We’re not sure we’ve come across the expression ‘high value man’ before but we’ve already made our mind up that anyone who calls themselves one is surely the exact opposite. We say this after someone styling themselves as @DefiantBaptist took time out from offering ‘Christian News By Christians, For Christians’ to offer some entirely unsolicited […] The post A ‘high value man’ had some advice for unmarried women and of all the mockery that ensued this A++ takedown beat all-comers appeared first on The Poke .

I’m A Celeb’s Aitch ‘sent flirty messages’ to MAFS’ Ella Morgan before jungle

Before heading into the I’m A Celebrity jungle, Aitch allegedly “sent flirty messages” to Married At First Sights’ (MAFS) Ella Morgan.  The 25-year-old rapper, who split from his girlfriend just weeks before heading to Australia, has been fuelling romance rumours in the jungle with newly-single EastEnders star Shona McGarty, 34. Zootropolis 2 Reviews: Critics Say Sequel Is A Return To Form For Disney

Zootropolis 2 Reviews: Critics Say Sequel Is A Return To Form For Disney

Nick and Judy are joined by a new companion on their adventures in Zootropolis 2 Zootropolis 2 is finally out, a weighty nine years after the original film was released – but critics are saying it was worth the wait. The animated animal allegory about how we all just need to get along is being hailed as a comeback for Disney by many critics (with only a smattering taking issue with its “algorithmically generated and corporately approved laughs”). For the studio, it’s a welcome reception after lukewarm responses to recent films like Wish, Strange World and Moana 2 . Disney’s new movie sees the return of buddy cops Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde – voiced by actors Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman – as well as introducing new characters like the excellently named Gary De’Snake, who is portrayed by recent Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan. We’ve rounded up what the critics are saying about Zootropolis 2 - or Zootopia 2, as it’s known everywhere else in the world (and indeed what most of us in the UK still call it). Here’s what the reviews are saying so far… The Telegraph (4/5) “[Disney’s recent output] has, at times, a certain controlled desperation – ‘look, folks, there truly is something for everyone here!’ some scenes seem to scream. But Disney, when minded, can still do this stuff as well as anyone – and in the pleasurable spring and snap of its animation, its at-times-unsettlingly comely character design, and set-pieces that swarm with humour and panache, Zootropolis 2 is proof.” The Independent (4/5) “Zootropolis 2 reframes the original’s metaphor for racism in a sounder, more thought-out way [...] Directors Byron Howard and Jared Bush, the latter the new head of the studio, have made a sequel that not only justifies itself, but arguably improves on its predecessor. Really, it’s the same film but better.” Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps are reunited in Zootropolis 2 The Times (4/5) “This is a perky and amusing second instalment in the animal city animation franchise [...] The film is exuberantly animated and deliciously voiced, with Ginnifer Goodwin apple-pie earnest as Judy and Jason Bateman uber-cocky as Nick.” IndieWire (B+) “That’s not to imply that Zootopia 2 isn’t funny, zippy, and highly enjoyable – it is indeed – but it’s also got the kind of heart that has too long seemed to be missing from other Disney animated offerings. There’s a weight to the messaging of the film. There’s real care behind the bond between Nick and Judy.” The Hollywood Reporter “The best buddy cop movie in eons has arrived in the form of Zootopia 2. [The film] proves more than worth the lengthy wait, knocking it out of the park with its dazzling visuals, sophisticated humour and doses of genuine emotion.” Variety “These movies are comedies first and crime-film homages second, but it’s their tertiary value as social commentary that makes the franchise so indispensable: Behind the laughs are teachable moments [...] If there was any mystery to whether the creative team could sustain Zootopia’s charms, Nick and Judy have effectively put our minds to rest.” The Guardian (2/5) “Another day, another supremely competent, passably-but-not-overwhelmingly funny digitally animated family comedy featuring talking animals. It’s not AI, but it might as well be [...] It’s the kind of movie you put on an iPad to keep the children quiet on a long plane or train journey; nothing wrong with that of course, but the heart and soul are lacking.” Zootopia 2 is in cinemas now. Conchological delight and a return to real life. Remember that? | Lucy Mangan

A change of heart on the search for a GHS down by the Thames before discovering the growing trend for ‘posting zero’ The hunt is apparently on in London for the German hairy snail. OK. I have an idea. Why don’t we NOT search for anything called “the German hairy snail”? In fact, I have an even better idea – why don’t we not search for any kind of “hairy snail”. I would go even further and suggest not searching for anything “hairy” at all because that is second only to “mucus” in the list of world’s worst words. But I will settle for not searching for the thing that unassailably evokes the two in grotesque combination. Continue reading...
