Putera MIC Kebangsaan gesa KPM laksana Dasar Sekolah Selamat cegah buli

Putera MIC Kebangsaan gesa KPM laksana Dasar Sekolah Selamat cegah buli

FAM appeals to FIFA over player eligibility document breach case

FAM appeals to FIFA over player eligibility document breach case

THE Football Association of Malaysia has submitted an official appeal to FIFA regarding the disciplinary decision involving eligibility documentation for seven national players. FAM acting president Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi said the association acted swiftly after receiving FIFA’s full judgment on October 7. He stated the legal team completed all necessary documents ahead of the submission deadline. “The appeal process is like a second round for us, so we are making better, more thorough and detailed preparations,“ Mohd Yusoff told reporters during Malaysia’s Asian Cup qualifier against Laos. Last month, FAM and seven naturalised players were penalised by FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee for violating Article 22 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. FIFA stated FAM had submitted falsified documents to confirm player eligibility for the June 10 Asian Cup qualifier against Vietnam. FAM was fined CHF350,000, approximately RM1.8 million, while each player received a CHF2,000 fine and 12-month suspension from football activities. The association previously explained a technical error occurred during the submission process involving administrative staff. FAM stated it might take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sport if the FIFA appeal fails. In a separate development, Mohd Yusoff said FAM would let its Disciplinary Committee handle national coach Peter Cklamovski’s recent critical remarks. He acknowledged accepting the Australian coach’s apology but emphasised FAM must respect its statutes. – Bernama

Hannah Yeoh urges support for Hakim Danish in 2025 MotoGP Malaysia

YOUTH and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh has challenged young Malaysian rider Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli to win the Moto3 competition at the 2025 Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix. Yeoh called on Malaysians to support the 18-year-old Terengganu rider’s wildcard debut by purchasing tickets for the event scheduled from October 24-26 at Sepang International Circuit. “We urge every Malaysian to buy a ticket and come out and support MotoGP,“ she said at a press conference for the AEON Credit SIC Racing MSI team. “A lot of times we hear people want us to bring international events here, but when it’s here, then Malaysians don’t really want to buy tickets.” She emphasised the rarity of seeing a Malaysian rider compete at this level, saying “we really hope that you will buy a ticket and come out and support Hakim Danish.” Hakim Danish’s mentor, Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin, previously finished second in the 2012 Moto3 season at SIC as Malaysia’s best representative. Yeoh said the rider’s participation demonstrates Malaysia’s potential when government, private sector and motorsports communities collaborate. She described AEON Credit’s support as an example of how corporate backing can help riders advance while inspiring youth to pursue big dreams. AEON Credit chairman Ng Eng Kiat announced a RM1 million donation to support Hakim Danish’s Moto3 debut, marking the company’s first venture into motorsports. He said this strengthens their long-term commitment to developing Malaysia’s youth, community and talent. SIC chief executive officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif said Hakim Danish’s appearance represents success for the entire technical team, mechanics and partners who believed in their talent development programme. – Bernama

Sarawak holds dual language tests amid school flu outbreak

Sarawak holds dual language tests amid school flu outbreak

KUCHING : Nearly 30,000 Primary Six students across Sarawak are taking mandatory dual language proficiency examinations this week, even as influenza-like illness spreads through educational institutions. Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee confirmed that 29,117 pupils from 1,050 primary schools are sitting for the assessments today and tomorrow. Only one school is exempt from administering the tests due to having no Primary Six enrollment. Dr Annuar acknowledged the ongoing health concerns but emphasized that classes remain open. “An influenza-like outbreak has affected our schools, but no closures have been ordered. The examinations will proceed as scheduled,” he stated through the State Public Communications Unit. He noted that health protocols have been strengthened, with parents, educators and students advised to maintain strict health monitoring. The illness has been reported in schools across Kuching district in southern Sarawak, as well as in Bintulu and Miri districts further north. Last week, a four-year-old boy in Samarahan near Kuching died from suspected infection. This marks Sarawak’s inaugural Dual Language Proficiency Assessment Test for Primary Six students, which will become an annual requirement. The examination measures competency in both Bahasa Malaysia and English for science and mathematics subjects. Bahasa Malaysia assessments follow standards set by Malaysia’s Ministry of Education, while English tests are benchmarked against Cambridge University standards. “We’ve partnered with Cambridge University to oversee marking of the English language component, while the Education Ministry handles the BM assessment,” Dr Annuar explained. His ministry is coordinating with Cambridge management on test paper development and examination administration. The initiative aims to produce future workers capable of mastering science and technology subjects at international standards in both languages. Sarawak is pioneering this mandatory dual language proficiency testing at the primary school level in Malaysia.

Shihlin Taiwan Street Food debut first-ever chicken ricebowls and drops limited edition blindbox!

Shihlin Taiwan Street Food debut first-ever chicken ricebowls and drops limited edition blindbox!

Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks turns 22 this year and is spreading its wings even further with a rebrand: Shihlin 2.0! Since it hatched as a humble store in 2003, it has sold over 100 million pieces of XXL Crispy Chicken worldwide, growing into a global street food phenomenon, with over 240 outlets in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, the United States, and Egypt. Going Beyond Snacks The brand now offers two new hearty, and value-for-money rice bowls created in collaboration with a Taiwanese consultant that are inclusive and authentic. One of these is the Braised Chicken Ricebowl 滷肉飯 (RM15.90), reminiscent of Taiwan’s famous braised pork rice bowls. To make this dish more inclusive, Shihlin uses poultry instead of pork, but without compromising on authenticity. Over three months, Shihlin worked closely with a Taiwanese food consultant to perfect the recipe. The result is a rich, delicious and succulent minced chicken sauce over glossy grains of Taiwanese pearl rice, served alongside braised beancurd, an oozy ramen egg, and pickles. Another new meal option is the Chiayi Scallion Chicken Ricebowl 嘉義雞肉飯 (RM15.90), created in close collaboration with the consultant. Inspired by Chiayi city’s iconic turkey rice, it is drizzled with a moreish gravy made from turkey drippings and soy sauce. Staying true to its chicken speciality focus, and to keep the dish more accessible, Shihlin swaps turkey for tender chicken. Following the launch of its hearty ricebowls, Shihlin introduces another exciting addition — the Dried Tossed Noodles Series, exclusively debuting in Malaysia. The new series celebrates the authentic flavours of Taiwanese night markets through three different noodle dishes, each carefully balanced to deliver a satisfying and flavourful bite. The Scallion Oil Noodle 蔥油麵 (RM8.80) features springy noodles coated in savoury scallion oil — fragrant, umami, and perfectly balanced with a gentle hint of heat. For those craving something bolder, the Dan Dan Noodle 擔擔麵 (RM8.80) combines a rich, spicy, and nutty sauce for added depth and texture. Meanwhile, the Taiwan Cut Chilli Noodle 剁椒麵 (RM8.80) turns up the heat with a tangy, fiery sauce tossed over signature Taiwan cut noodles, offering a satisfying night market kick that’s both bold and memorable. Complimenting the brand-new menu items are refreshing vegetarian-friendly appetisers such as Smashed Cucumber 涼拌小黃瓜 (RM4.90) , Black Fungus 涼拌黑木耳 (RM4.90) and Oyster Mushroom 凉拌杏鲍菇 (RM5.90). New Mascot, New Merch with Shihlin 2.0 Alongside the makeover comes Miào Miào, Shihlin’s new feline mascot that is cheeky, curious, and fiercely loyal, embodying the Shihlin spirit of playfulness and connection. Miào Miào merchandise To celebrate, Shihlin introduces limited-edition, adorable merchandise, in the trendy “blindbox” format. These feature the new Shihlin 2.0 mascot Miào Miào, in three cuteness overload designs. Will you catch Crispy Miào Miào eating Shihlin XXL Crispy Chicken while wearing the giant cutlet on its head? Or will Slurpy Miào Miào be seen wearing an oyster hat, while holding onto a piping hot bowl of oyster mee sua? Or how about some seafood tempura that QQ Miào Miào grasps, its head also a gigantic tempura. To commemorate the new beginning of Shihlin 2.0 with the renewal of its NU Sentral outlet, special reopening promotions include: 17 October 2025 *: Starting at 12pm, the first 100 customers can enjoy RM1.99 Braised Chicken Ricebowl 18 October 2025 *: Starting at 12pm, the first 100 customers can enjoy RM1.99 Scallion Oil Noodle *Each customer is entitled to 1 bowl only.
