KUALA LUMPUR: Aktiviti luar dan program berasaskan komuniti memainkan peranan penting dalam membentuk disiplin serta mengurangkan isu sosial dalam kalangan pelajar. Timbalan Menteri Perpaduan Negara K. Saraswathy berkata inisiatif seumpama itu membolehkan anak muda bersosialisasi dan memahami lebih mendalam dunia di sekeliling mereka. Beliau menekankan aktiviti tersebut juga memupuk semangat kekitaan dan tanggungjawab kepada negara. “Selain pendidikan dan langkah yang diambil oleh pihak sekolah, aktiviti di luar bilik darjah pun sangat penting supaya anak muda mendapat pendedahan dari segi ilmu dan pengalaman,” katanya. Saraswathy menambah Kementerian Perpaduan Negara mempunyai banyak program di Arkib Negara dan muzium di seluruh negara untuk membantu pembinaan jati diri pelajar. Beliau berharap program tersebut dapat membantu membina rakyat yang lebih bermakna dan berguna kepada negara. Saraswathy ditemui selepas menghadiri majlis penyampaian sijil pengiktirafan Malaysia Book of Records kepada Raaji Silk Palace. Raaji Silk Palace diiktiraf sebagai rangkaian peruncit pakaian tradisional India terbanyak dengan 18 cawangan. Sijil tersebut disampaikan oleh wakil MBOR V. Menaga kepada pengasas Raaji Silk Palace Datuk L. Gandesan. Saraswathy turut menyampaikan sumbangan Deepavali daripada Raaji Silk Palace kepada beberapa penerima kurang bernasib baik. Beliau berharap lebih banyak entiti perniagaan tampil membantu golongan B40 semasa musim perayaan ini. Negara baru-baru ini dikejutkan dengan beberapa insiden di sekolah termasuk kes seorang pelajar perempuan Tingkatan Empat maut ditikam. Insiden lain membabitkan kes rogol empat pelajar lelaki Tingkatan Lima ke atas pelajar perempuan Tingkatan Tiga di Melaka. Sementara itu, Gandesan berkata rangkaian tekstilnya telah menyumbang kira-kira 1,500 set pakaian untuk Deepavali. Ini merupakan sebahagian daripada inisiatif tanggungjawab sosial korporat tahunan mereka. “Ini juga tanda penghargaan kepada rakyat Malaysia susulan pencapaian luar biasa sejak cawangan pertama kami dibuka pada 1997.” Beliau berkata mereka berharap untuk membangunkan kilang tekstil sendiri pada masa depan. KUALA LUMPUR : Authorities are conducting a full investigation into the death of a University of Malaya student who fell from a campus hostel building. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir confirmed the investigation is underway following the tragic incident. Zambry stated that the Ministry of Higher Education and University of Malaya would provide immediate assistance to the victim’s family. “We are still waiting for an official statement from the police before the ministry issues any further statement,“ he said in a Facebook post. The minister expressed his condolences to the student’s family and confirmed he rushed to University of Malaya Medical Centre upon hearing about the incident. University of Malaya confirmed in an official statement that the student died while receiving treatment at the medical centre. The cause of the incident remains under investigation by the relevant authorities. University officials stated they are providing full cooperation to assist with the investigation process. UM requested all parties to respect the privacy of the student’s family during this difficult time. The university specifically asked people to avoid speculating or sharing unverified information about the incident. All university staff expressed deep sadness and sympathy to the deceased student’s family. The Student Affairs Department is providing assistance and full support to the grieving family. – Bernama

Themed “Honouring Excellence, Powering Global Trade”, NEA 2025 reflects the nation’s broader trade vision that sees export success as a strategic pillar of economic growth and sustainable development. Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said Malaysia’s strong export performance amid global uncertainty reflects the agility and resilience of its industries. He stated that many exporters are catalysts of innovation, champions of resilience and drivers of inclusive, sustainable growth. NEA 2025 recognises this excellence by celebrating exporters who successfully build a future-ready, innovation-led and sustainable business. MATRADE chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said NEA 2025 is a national platform to showcase excellence and inspire the next generation of exporters. He declared this is Malaysia’s moment to lead, to compete, and to excel. MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Sri Mohd Mustafa Abdul Aziz said that as global expectations shift toward more responsible trade, Malaysian exporters must rise to meet the moment. He emphasised that the NEA honours those leading the way and setting the path that encourages others to follow. The 2025 edition will feature seven best exporter award categories including Best Exporter for Large Companies, Multinational Companies, and Mid-Tier Companies. Award recipients will be selected through a rigorous evaluation framework based on export value, market reach, sustainability practices and growth trajectory. MALAYSIA aims to become a regional hub for sports technology and innovation where young people can transform passion into careers and creativity into enterprise. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi revealed the global sports industry is projected to grow by 54.5% from 388.2 billion US dollars in 2020 to an estimated 600 billion US dollars by 2025. This expansion reflects a robust Compound Annual Growth Rate of approximately 9.1% worldwide. Malaysia’s sports sector demonstrated exceptional momentum by recording remarkable 12.1% year-on-year growth when valued at 4.17 billion US dollars in 2022. This achievement signals Malaysia’s emergence as a key player in ASEAN where sports serve as both a unifying force and catalyst for innovation. Ahmad Zahid delivered these remarks during his speech at the ASEAN Sports Industry Expo 2025 here today. He added that ASEAN’s combined population of over 680 million people holds immense potential to become the next global hub for sports economy. The comprehensive value chain spans sports tourism, wellness, talent development, high-value manufacturing, marketing, digital innovation, and professional services. The global sports technology market worth 11.7 billion US dollars in 2020 will grow rapidly through innovations including IoT, data analytics, and smart infrastructure. Malaysia must not only follow these trends but help lead them through initiatives like the Sports Technology Sandbox and National Sports Technology Centre of Excellence. The country will strengthen sports science, medicine, and nutrition to support athletes holistically for smarter and safer competition. KUANTAN : The Malaysia Data Innovation Talent x DOSM Datathon 2025 (MDIT x DD 2025) aims to raise awareness among university students about the importance of data analysis and innovation. The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) stated that the competition, organised for the 2025 National Statistics Day, also serves as a platform for students to develop data analysis skills and use the latest technology software. DOSM emphasised that in an increasingly data-oriented world, the ability to analyse and understand data is a very important skill. The competition also aims to provide students with educational prospects in data science and foster critical thinking while increasing collaboration with professionals and industry. Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin officially launched MDIT x DD 2025 today, which involves student participation from higher learning institutions. MDIT x DD 2025 is a prestigious national-level competition organised by DOSM in collaboration with the Statistics Club and Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam. The competition carried the theme “Innovative Solutions Towards a Decent Standard of Living in Malaysia” and involved 93 teams comprising 372 students from 24 institutions nationwide. The final stage featuring the top ten teams was held today, with the prize-giving ceremony scheduled for the National Statistics Day celebration in Lipis tomorrow. Meanwhile, DOSM will chair the 15th ASEAN Community Statistical System Committee in conjunction with the ASEAN-Malaysia Chairmanship 2025 to strengthen statistical cooperation for sustainable regional development. The fourth seeds defeated compatriots Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie in their quarter-final match at the Jyske Bank Arena. Tang Jie and Ee Wei needed only 38 minutes to record a 21-17, 21-11 straight sets victory over the eighth seeds.
