New Italian stamp unveiled at FAO to celebrate 80 years of Rome-based UN organisation. Italy has issued a special commemorative postage stamp to mark the 80th anniversary of the Rome-based Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The stamp was presented at the FAO headquarters in Rome's Aventino district on Thursday during celebrations to mark World Food Day, part of the week-long World Food Forum. The initiative was promoted by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy in collaboration with the Italian State Mint and Polygraphic Institute (IPZS) and Poste Italiane. Issued as part of Italy’s “Social Values” series, the stamp features the FAO building in Rome along with the organisation's 80th anniversary logo and the United Nations flag. The stamp, together with a series of commemorative labels, is available in Italy from 16 October at philatelic counters nationwide and online via the Poste Italiane website. The celebrations for World Food Day - attended by a host of dignatories including Italy's president Sergio Mattarella, prime minister Giorgia Meloni and Pope Leo XIV - included the inauguration of the FAO Food and Agriculture Museum and Network – FAO MuNe. The organisation said the museum initiative "stands as a legacy of FAO’s 80 years of dedication to sustainable food and agriculture worldwide and reflects Rome’s role as FAO’s host city and partner in this shared commitment".

(Adnkronos) - Il presidente degli Stati Uniti Donald Trump è apparso poco propenso a fornire missili Tomahawk all'Ucraina dopo aver sentito il presidente russo Vladimir Putin e a poche ore dall'incontro con il presidente ucraino Volodymyr Zelensky a Washington. "Anche gli Stati Uniti d'America hanno bisogno di Tomahawk. Ne abbiamo molti, ma ne abbiamo bisogno. Voglio dire, non possiamo esaurirli", ha detto Trump ai giornalisti nello Studio Ovale. "Non so cosa possiamo fare al riguardo". Zelensky, arrivato a Washington in mattinata, dovrebbe fare pressione su Trump affinché trasferisca i missili a lungo raggio Tomahawk all'Ucraina durante l'incontro previsto per oggi. Il presidente degli Stati Uniti ha già ventilato la possibilità di fornire a Kiev missili da crociera in grado di colpire obiettivi fino a 2.500 chilometri. L'esitazione di Trump sulle potenziali consegne arriva dopo la telefonata di due ore e mezza di ieri con il presidente russo Vladimir Putin, in cui entrambi i leader hanno discusso, tra le altre questioni, del trasferimento dei missili Tomahawk. In una conferenza stampa successiva alla chiamata, il consigliere di Putin per la politica estera, Yuri Ushakov, ha affermato che il presidente russo ha sollevato direttamente la questione della fornitura di Tomahawk all'Ucraina. "Vladimir Putin ha ribadito che i Tomahawk non cambieranno la situazione sul campo di battaglia, ma causeranno danni significativi alle relazioni tra i nostri Paesi, per non parlare delle prospettive di una soluzione pacifica", ha detto Ushakov, ribadendo l'opposizione di Putin al potenziale trasferimento.
